I have three remote controls, one each for my HDTV, my HD cable box, and my DVD player. Beginning two days ago, all of a sudden, none of the remotes works at all. I have changed batteries in all of them, with no effect. It sounds like possible something is interfering with all the remote signals. Has anyone ever experienced such a thing? Any ideas what I could try?

My parents have a TV with a built in DVR. I may be interested in getting one myself. I was told by a sales associate at Best Buy that this is bad, that if the DVR breaks, the TV will also be shot. Does anyone out there have an opinion on this matter?

It is okay when the colors are bright, but during dark scenes like in mystery or thrillers, I can't make out the picture because it is so dim. I have the settings at the brightest they can be. It is a JVC 27" that was brand new about 4 1/2 years ago. Is it worth it to fix it or should I just buy a new one? I am looking to only spend about $150-$200.

You know when you try to film the TV, lines appear across the screen.
What causes this? And are there any tricks to minimise this?

I don't have cable (even thought it is available in my building) as I do not watch much TV.
but I would like to watch the news every know and then and the over the air broadcast is well over the air broadcast.
I read something about Cable companies being required by FCC to provide access to "Local analog TV channels". Is that ture? can I call them up and ask for analog local channels for free?
Thanks

This probably seems like the opposite direction to be taking an antenna - down instead of up. I live in a rural area and am having trouble getting signal. Don't want to pay for service & don't want tacky antenna on side of house. Right now I am using an antenna that sits on top of the entertainment center. I would like to not have to see the antenna. Would also take suggestions on the best and most powerful indoor antenna.

My TV's acting up. But I'd heard that "normal" TV stations will stop broadcasting soon (when?). Will converters be available? Should I buy a new regular TV, try to repair the old one long enough for digital TV prices to drop, or cough up the money now for an overpriced HDTV? (I don't use TV enough to justify cable or satellite).

Ok, I am renting an appartment right now and everytime I watch TV it goes from coming in Crystal clear to static and cuts out the sound. What is going on!? It's come to the point where i just shut it off and stare at the wall to save my sanity. Oh, and it's probably not the TV, but the server. It's just using the antenna, no cable or satalite. I'm guessing it's that because I have 2 tv's in the appartment, and they both do the same thing. Any suggestions?

I have a cheap Daewoo TV set (model #: DTQ-19V1FC) which has a NTSC built-in tuner and I was thinking about getting some rabbit ears to be able to watch some TV. I would like to know what kind of rabbit ears I should get to get the most channels other than the typical 12. I heard something about analog and digital tuners? Are those rabbit ears? I just want to be able to watch as many channels as possible for dirt cheap since I won't be living in my apartment for more than 2 months. But I would like to get better channels other than PBS. Please advise. thanks

I do not understand what is going to happen with my TV. I know the switchover is in Feb 2009. My TV is about 7-8 years old and I'm not sure if it is digital.

Is there a way to find out if it is digital or analog?

What is the difference between digital and analog?

If I were to buy a new TV, do I have to buy a new digital TV (one of the really expensive ones) to watch when the switchover occurs (without buying a converter)?

I know I am asking a lot here, but I would really appreciate some help.

My 6 year old decided it would be a good idea to see if the tv was metal by putting his large magnet onto the front of it! At first all of the picture went, then after a short while it came back with two large black spots but then a few days later when we turned the tv on it went bang and we had no picture, now if you turn it on the on light is there but no sound or picture! Can it be fixed?
