I'm looking into a 65-72 inch big screen TV. I was wondering what people thought was the best technology to get in this size range-- there's LCD, DLP, LCOS (HD-ILA), CRT and even plasmas are getting to the 60" range these days.

My leading contenters at this point are either DLP or HD-ILA

Thanks

I want to fix the TV to the wall using the usual type of bracket, is there a minimum length of screw etc.? Also is it ok to put the TV over the gas fire?

I know this sounds stupid but I have just got a PS1 and I want to set it up. I have placed the lead into the ariel but the PS1 is not being picked up by the TV. I have also automatically configured the TV and it still does not pick up.

How do you set the PS1?

It is a 4 year old Magnavox television. It seems to be the color that needs time to "warm up". If the TV is off and we turn it on, it goes black immediately. We have to turn the TV off and back on. Round and round we go. Eventually it stays on.

Oddly enough, this started happening when we got our DSL hooked up. I don't think one has to do with another but thought it worth mentioning.

I just want to know how to fix it, if it is possible to fix it.

I'm really confused about HDTV.
I know that SKY Digital now have SkyOne HD and SkySports HD, but when it comes to Digital Freeview TV, are people like the BBC broadcasting their Digital TV in HD? or does it vary from program to program? Can a normal coax arial receive such an HD signal?!?

If that's the case, are there any HD TV Cards for a PC yet?

All that I read about plasma tv says that "If you leave a static image for too long it will burn into the display" Fine. I get that. But How long is too long? ALL places that I read failed to explain.
i know there are hundreds of variables on this one. But there has to be a way to come close to say if you PAUSE your DVR for "X" minutes, it will mess your Plasma TV.....

My boyfriend are in a geeked-out argument over my buying a flat screen. He feels that it is very important for me to get the 1080p, but from my point of view the only thing I'm going to do with the set is watch broadcast television and dvd's. I'm not a gamer.

So I leave it up to you, how important is it to get a true HD set at 1080p, if I'm not going to be using it for more than just a tv.

Thanks!!

I was looking at a new HDTV with 1080p. My initial idea was to get the sony 60" SXRD Rear Projection HDTV with max 1080p resolution, however the sales person at Best Buy told me that an LCD with a 720p res will be much better quality than the SXRD rear projection HDTV with 1080p. IS that true, if not do i sacrifice alot of quality by going with a 1080p rear projection vs 720p or even 1080p LCD. The guy sold me a 1080p 52" LCD from Samsung for 5113$ after taxes, while i could get a 60 inch Sony SXRD with 1080p for 3k$ after taxes. That's bigger and alot cheaper. I don't care too much about mounting. However if my picture quality will be the same of a 720p lcd, i'd rather keep the LCD i bought, if not, i'd like to save the 2k and get the SXRD. Thank you.

I've been searching for the name of the jack for a STANDARD tv not hdtv, and I've also been trying to look for an adapter/cable, which could connect a dvi or vga port from a computer video card to that of a standard tv jack but I dont know what the jack is called, can anyone help me out? and if there is no such adapter could you tell me so that I can stop searching, its been weeks!

the jack I'm talking about can either be the three holed one, or the one that has a pin hole.

We need a new tv. Should we buy a digital one or an ordinary one plus digibox (we want freeview)? I've been told a "digital" tv is just one with the digibox built in and it would therefore be cheaper and we would be no worse off if we got the ordinary telly plus box.

I recently purchased a TV booster in order to enhance the signal reception of the local TV channel. After usiung it dor two months I switched it on the other day and it has refused to work. Switching on the booster only makes the picture worse, and I have tried to use the TV without the booster but I see no improvement. I know the problem might also be that I have a coaxial cable with interruptions but is my booster spoilt or not? I checked the power supply and there seems to be no problem.

I've had my 41-inch Sony TV since 1998. This past Sunday, as I turned it on the screen had a red line on the top and the images were blurry.

Being that the TV is 9 years old, is it worth trying to get the tube repaired or am I better off buying a new TV?

Do they still make 41-inch tube TV's?

I don't even know if I should get a LCD or plasma. Help please.

Thanks,
Cathy
