All that I read about plasma tv says that "If you leave a static image for too long it will burn into the display" Fine. I get that. But How long is too long? ALL places that I read failed to explain.
i know there are hundreds of variables on this one. But there has to be a way to come close to say if you PAUSE your DVR for "X" minutes, it will mess your Plasma TV.....

I have a 42 inch Panasonic 9 Series Plasma. Initially when my plasma was new even a staic image on TV for a minute would leave a image(its not burnin cause it would go away after I had some full screen stuff running for sometime).

My TV has approximatly been running for a total of 400 Hours. Now I have started watching movies with those static black bars, I get the image retrntion of those bars but once I run the screensaver(i.e a white full screen bar sweeping over entire length of the screen) for 5 minutes everything is cool no Image retention no burnin, I have also started playing games with static images.
If you ask me If you take proper care in the initial 100 to 150 hours your plasma will not have any burnin problems.
Enjoy the View :)

I wouldn't even say minutes....more like days, & it whould have to be the SAME image. I have my mother inlaw staying @ my house with my wife helping take care of the 2 newborns & they watch nothing but the Food Network around the clock, Well this has gone on for @ least 4 months & now I have a permanet Food Network Icon burned into the bottom right of my screen! Damn u food network
