so are you saying that HD and Plasma are the same? If that's so, how come in the stores they are priced differently and have different resolution and clarity?

Plasma screens can be high definition (HD) or standard definition, as can LCD screens.

A recent report showed that high-end (over £1,000) LCD TVs are of comparable quality to Plasmas. However, people normally plump for LCD over Plasma as they cheaper LCD models are significantly cheaper than Plasmas.

These cheaper LCDs are no where near as good as Plasma TVs.

UPDATE:

LCD and Plasma are different. Both of them can be bought in either Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD). Basically SD has 576 lines in the picture and HD has 720 or 1,080 lines.

Also, it is worth bearing in mind that it is only worth getting an HD Plasma or LCD tv if you have HD pictures to watch (from HD satellite or cable or a Blue Ray or HD-DVD player). If you don't hook up one of these devices to your telly you will just be watching SD pictures.

A Plasma HD would be the way to go

HD is the broadcast signal and Plasma is the viewing mode

so you could get a LCD or Plasma in HD

Plasma offers far better picture due to LCD screens having a refresh rate so when the really fast action is on you will always get shadows.

buy a LCD or DLP. All of them have the ability to broadcast in HD. But Plasma's are not that hot.

Go to a store and check it out. just look at the TVs. The store setting will be different but it does give you a feel.

plasma is slowly becoming an old-school technique...I bought a plasma aboput a year ago (then the HD tv's were entering the market) and now i'm starting to regreat that decision...If you compare the colour spectum and the sharpness you can clearly see a big difference...The HD's may be a little more expensive but they are definately worth their price...so if you get the choice - buy a HD

The question makes no sense. Almost all plasma televisions are HD (high definition).
