If you batten across the wall with two pieces of timber, your studwork will be approximately 600mm apart, center to center.....it is not always possible to find the studs as foil backed plasterboard will give a false reading however if you use the battens and metal plasterboard plugs at regular spacings you should get sufficient fixing to take the weight..If you find at least one stud, all the better...Have been building timber frame buildings for a few years now....

As long as it isn't a supporting wall you'll be fine, though you may want to check for cables and pipes within the walls first, if you don't have the blueprints for your house, you can use devices that can br purchased or loaned from hardware stores to check this out for you.

yes get the proper fixings,phone the company they will do it., you`re in to diy? want me to to mount you re plasma if you re wife's good costs nothing less than an hour it`s free.
