If you are close enough to a large city
use an external antennae, the over the air HD signal is usually very good.

Check to make sure your Sony doesn't already have a tuner for digital TV (ATSC tuner). Most newly manufactured sets are required to have one. If it doesn't, go on e-bay and look for a HDTV tuner. Samsung, Zenith and RCA made these. They will receive your local broadcasts and you don't need to subscribe to satellite or cable. Before you do that, check this site http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx
to see what your reception would be like. You may need an outdoor antenna.

There is no cost efficient way to get HDTV....$200 for a local reciever for local channels...

$200 for a DISH HD box (if you're already a regular customer)
FREE to NEW CUSTOMERS......that SUCKS!!!!

Same situation with DirectTV....

Cable?? Puhhhhhleeeease!

Cheapest way is to "Pretend" you're getting True HD signal....

Let's not even go with a Computer Video card.....
