I'm really confused about HDTV.
I know that SKY Digital now have SkyOne HD and SkySports HD, but when it comes to Digital Freeview TV, are people like the BBC broadcasting their Digital TV in HD? or does it vary from program to program? Can a normal coax arial receive such an HD signal?!?

If that's the case, are there any HD TV Cards for a PC yet?

There are plenty of HDTV PC cards available for the US market, so most likely the UK should have them too. I have a MYHD130, which I love. Here is the link:http://www.mitinc.co.kr/mitinc/e_site/prod/prod_mdp130.jsp

Sky HD is the only way of getting HD at this very moment and even then it's an extra £10 a month for something like 6 channels.

At the moment freeview is digitally broadcasting normal TV, I doubt it will be until switchover is complete in 2012 that HD will be introduced, then new freeview boxes and TV's (Depending on your Set) will have to be purchased. Before then though Cable will have introduced HD TV.

Two blu-ray players have been released in the UK for HD Blu-Ray films, but these two players (Panasonic and Samsung) have received poor reviews and cost upwards of £800.

If you can receive freeview I cannot see why an aerial upgrade would be needed for HD and yes, Co-axial cable can carry HD signals.

SKY are broadcasting a few limited channels with HD, Freeview did some tests earlier this year.

I dont know when Sky plans to rollout HD TV accrossa ll channels (if at all)

I have heard rumours that Freeview may start broadcasting HD TV in the early part of next decade (presumably after the turning off of the analogue signal is completed.

the limiting factor is the bandwidtgh available of the tuner, and the sensitivity of the ariel/antenna and signal strength. its not ffected by coax cable, although a high quality low limpednace/low loss cable will be better.....

as rergards to HD TV cars for PC's... dunno. I suppose it will depend on whether there is a market for them. There may already be some cards, especailly those for satellite decoders which will work OK... Id check with the manufacturers

The BBC have an HD preview channel on Sky at the minute, and all the terrestrial channels (except Channel 5) have limited HD freeview trials going on in a few hundred homes. It can be picked up through a regular aerial (assuming it can receive digital broadcasts).

You can make your PC HD by going Display>Settings and upping the resolution, if you go past what your card can handle it will be blank and you need to reset from start-up going to use last good settings.
In a couple of years HD will be cheap and worth it for TV only saps buy at the beginning.
