If I didn't add a 1 for long distance, or if I added the area code and I'm not supposed to, don't you think the phone company should connect my call anyway as long as I enter in all 10 numbers?

Have come across older type telephone wire tucked behind an aerial socket. Need to know what colour wire connects to what number terminal on a phone socket. Trying to see if it's "live".

Colours are:
Red
Yellow
Blue
Black
Green
White
All "solid" colours.

Thanks for your help.

I got a panasonic cordless phone in US and brought to India , when I look at the dialled numbers I get the dialled number in US phone number format 3 - 3 - 4 digits. In india there is no such number format. Is there any way I can tune the set so that the number is not shown in the US number format. Panasonic set model number is KX-TG6074B.

I'm looking for an unlimited plan for a small business, I work from home as a call center agent and I don't want to run into an issue with a company freaking out if I go with a residential plan. I am also hoping to find a plan that includes unlimited calls to Europe. Any suggestions on a company that has good rates and excellent sound quality would be apprciated.

I am having a problem with phone line noise and intermittant DSL line connection problems. Wehave two modular phone jacks. One has a 2.4Ghz portable phone with a remote base so that both phones can work. That line is filtered at the wall not at the remote base(which cannot be filtered). The Westell 6100 Dual Modem and another phone are hooked up at another jack. The phone there is filtered. I check the line witha Radio Shack detector and it says OK. We also have Caller ID Service as well. We had this problem early on and got another modem. Still persists. The Verizon tech found a bare wire short in the wall jack where the portable phone is located. He attached the black and red wires together so the phone would work. I never re-attached the wired correctly. Could that cause the problem or is the battery in the portable phine gone bad. Or could lightnening damge some thing as well. Thanks for any help. Sometimes the modem disconnects as well. Any thoughts.

I have spent a total of 2 hours and 50 minutes this week, listening to a ring tone at the other end of the phone when I try to contact them. I have now informed Ofcom, but has anyone else found that BT have charged them £160 to change providers? It is a residential account and we have never signed any contract or been made aware of any such clause....

I'm going back to Iraq soon and I want to try another pc based phone service. The internet connection over there is usually not very good, but it can have some good spells. Last time I used a service called "PC Phone." It was ok and I could receive calls or make calls to a land line phone for a decent price.

How does SKYPE and Yahoo's phone service compair in terms of QUALITY & RELIABILITY? Is there a better pc based service that is better and in the same price range?

If you were in Iraq and used a particular service, good or bad, let me know.

Thanks.

Here is to tell the one person who found a cell phone in the city of detroit decided to keep it and then had the gall to call people on the phone listed and say hi aunt so in so this is your son. the phone that had been lost was a dead son that had died. this individual did this to several of my relatives. ITs very sad when one loses a cell phone now we have to put up with someones stupid behavior. they called a cousin aunt and sister. these people had just lost this kid (40) a few days after the phone was missing. why can't you turn in the phone why do you have to do things like this or steal? do you realize that sometimes those phones are for reasns not pleasure. they are to let family members know someone is ok or thee whereabouts for reasons unknown to you. its just a thought yes they do get good money for the good ones but its sad that alot of people will keep them and do things like this my say is over.

I looked at my bill for this month's billing cycle and have a call made to Canada for a few hours that I never made. How do I prove to them it wasn't me who made the call? Do phone companies record phone calls? If so, how long do they keep the records? This is a landline, keep in mind, not a cellphone.

Hello, Everyone!

Call me crazy, but I am starting my Christmas shopping already! LOL!

My mom mentioned she is wanting a wireless HOME phone head set or something. She wants to be able to walk around and do things (while on the phone) without carrying the telephone hand set.

Can anyone help me? I have no idea what I am looking for. Is there a such thing as a Bluetooth head set for a HOME telephone?

THANKS!

Is it illegal for a Telemarketer, Phone Surveyor, or charity to not list their phone number so it shows up on your caller ID? I never answer any calls if my Caller ID shows "unknown name and number" or "Unidentified". Also, is it legal to spoof this number if they do list one? I sometimes get return numbers that show up on my caller ID and when I imediately call it back, it's disconnected or is not valid. I would think that this would be illegal but may not be. What are the rules regarding this?
