no they cant record calls since its an invasion to privacy... the only thing you can do is call your phone company and plead your case.. they should have a protocol regarding things like this

Just call the phone company and explain. This isn't the first time things like that have happened and ended up being billed to the wrong person. It will also help if you have proof that you were at work (and nobody else was at your home or had keys to get in) at the time the call was made.

I would just call there and let them know u have no idea where it came from- and they will more then likely look through your old bills and if you have never called Canada before Im sure they might cut you some slack- Since i've had them do that for me - I had calls to Mexico and I never called mexico so i called and raised some hell and they seen i've never called there and they took it off

Or my superb pal's motor vehicle would desire to be broken down on the area of the line and that they had to borrow a telephone via fact they forgot to fee theirs, and that i does no longer know the quantity. Or the neighbor I infrequently understand would desire to be calling to declare somebody's attempting to interrupt into my motor vehicle, and that i does no longer know the quantity. the quite a few maximum pressing calls you will ever get carry of will come from unknown numbers!

Stand firm and tell them they are not yours. Eventually, they will have you sign an affidavit stating, under the penalty of perjury, you did not make those calls and you did not allow anyone to make them either.
Then, they will investigate.
Likely, someone has tapped into your phone line and made those calls.
No, they do not record calls, but they do keep the numbers that you called. It happened to me once. Eventually, they tracked it down to a teen ager making long distance calls to his girlfriend, reversed my charges and instead, charged them.

Just to let you know, calling Canada is super cheap as well... their cost is likely near .005/minute or maybe less. The retail guys make huge $$ on marking it up.

There's really no way to prove it, on your side. They can go through their records to prove or disprove, but what financial incentive do they have to do that?
