Collection agencies call my house DAILY to find a person that I supposed used to have my phone number (we've had our current phone number for about a year now). When I answer the phone, I only get a recording that will not let me speak to someone without the SS# of the person they are calling for. I've tried calling the # back, but again I cannot get far without the SS# of the person they are calling for! How do I get these calls to stop?

Would it be possible to keep my Verizon land phone and also have the VOIP Vonage phone in my home. Between the two of them, the cost would still be less then Verizons Freedom plan. I'm worried about compatibility. I would like my present phones to stay on Verizon and keep Vonage as a backup phone line with a different number.

i found out recently that im binded to some one year contract with at&t. i never asked for any discount packages, nor did i sign up for any benefits that can tie me down to a contract. when i spoke with a at&t rep. this morning, i got hung up on twice, and the last one plainly stated that i agreed to the contract when i paid my first bill. does anyone know a way to get out, its the principal of the matter. I NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING, NOR WAS I AWARE THAT I WAS GETTING MYSELF INTO A CONTRACT. DO I CALL FCC? AT&T IS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am being told by my current digital voice provider that I am not able to switch to another digital voice provider because the technology doesn't exist. Can anyone tell me if that is the truth because that doesn't seem right to me.

Right now my home phone is through Verizon. I do not get free long distance and have to pay quite a bit to call my mom is only 30 minutes from my house - called a toll call. Without any long distance calls and only a bare minimum of toll calls, my phone bill is $29/month. I saw an advertisement for Vonage which gives you free long distance anywhere and unlimited calling for $24.99. Are there any pros/cons you are aware of. What about extra taxes, etc.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having them unlisted/unpublished?

I am not getting a dial tone anymore on my phone even when I use the same connection that I get my ADSL service from. The phone company technician confirmed that the phone/internet service is working to the NID (grey box on the outside of the building) but I am not getting any phone service inside my apartment, no matter where I connect my phone. If you call my fixed line phone you will hear it ringing but my phone is just completely lifeless! Do you think that my internal phone wiring may be faulty?

I live in a ground floot flat that does not have a phone connector on the wall. One of the flats upstairs has had NTL connected.

Who do I contact to get a line installed to the flat and how much will it cost?

I have been given lots of old negatives of old family holidays. Some of these negatives were taken on an old Kodac camera and the negatives are on a circular disc. Does anyone know if any company around still processes these types of negatives. I've tried Jessops so far and they say no as it is old (about 20yrs) and was then replaced by the APS system.

Any ideas?

An elderly relative of mine is always getting into a mess with the curly cable of her household phone (the cable that goes from the phone base to the handset). We are trying to locate a straight cable for her to replace this.

We did think a RJ11 (broadband) cable would do the job but we were advised against it.

Does anyone know what cable/code of the cable we can use?

Ok. We got a set of 4 new at&t phones from best buy. Hooked them up. They worked great right from the start. But last week they just stopped working somehow. You can turn them on and they're connected to the phone jack. Everything works like its supposed to. Except you dont get a dial tone. We checked things out...turns out the power had gone out and all the phone jacks didnt work (but the one outside did. so we still have a line). Weird part is I'm online right now. So the computer can connect to the phonelline...but for some reason the phone cant (Not even the old one). Anyways. I checked everything...phonelines, outlits, phones, etc...and I couldnt figure it out... but the next day when we got up everthing was working fine.

Well...to make a long story short...we lost the power a couple days ago and its happening all over again...except this time the phone didnt fix itself the next day.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thank you

The phone company is offering an upgrade from regular phone lines to fiber optics for my home. My phones and computer (DSL) work just fine as is. I know fiber optics have some advantages, but are those advantages really worth the upgrade for a residential line that has only normal telephone and computer usage?
