Would it be possible to keep my Verizon land phone and also have the VOIP Vonage phone in my home. Between the two of them, the cost would still be less then Verizons Freedom plan. I'm worried about compatibility. I would like my present phones to stay on Verizon and keep Vonage as a backup phone line with a different number.

yeah u can. verizon will work just like it does now and for VoIP service, the calls will go through the phone router that's provided by the VoIP company. i dont understand why you would want to have 2 services tho. i'm sure you have a reason to do so but just sounds like a waste to me.

FYI, i just got SunRocket a month ago. it's $199 for the entire year. service works great so far. no contract. no activation fee. comes out to be just under $17/month. no high phone taxes. just pay $199 plus regular sales tax when you sign up. other services charge you E911 charges so even though Vonage is $24.95/month, you'll probably pay at least $30/month.

you can have anything you want to, as long you pay the bill!!

Vonage goes thru your computer modem, while your other phone is plugged in the wall socket...two different things...but you gotta pay 2 times for the 911 now...

I had kept my land-line for 6 month after I got my VoIP, because I didn't trust broadband yet, but then I liked it so much that I canceled my land-line! and I'm happy with my VoIP provider....its only 19.99 a month!

yes you can keep both of them, but the idea of having vonage as your back up would only work if you use cable modem... if your using DSL and your verizon phone line goes down chances are that your dsl is going to be out.. and that means that your vonage line will be down also..

you can connect your vonage to your existing phone wiring in your home and get 2 line phones..

That's not a problem at all. You might want to check out Lingo. http://lingo.com They are another VOIP that's cheaper than Vonage.

Yes you can. You may need a 2 line phone so you can switch between the 2 different lines.
