Yes I am asking about DVD upscaling again. No one has asked the right question yet. If you have a low resolution picture and blow it up it sucks. Is it not the same with an upconverter? You can not make pixels that did not exist before and that is what it seems an upconverter does. I understand the signal stay digital with the HDMI/DVI output, but will that make a noticeable difference? The right question is has anyone done a side-by-side comparison of a standard DVD player and an upconverter of the same class? You cannot comparare a cheap wal-mart SD to a 300.00 upconverter.

Can I use my composite cable at component video ports of my dvd player and TV?

If there are any issues, other than bandwidth, please let me know.
I guess, since cable is used to pass the data from dvd palyer to TV and processing is done at TV and player, I can use the cable.

I have a philips DVD player and philips 100 HZ TV. The composite cable is also from philips.

how do you fix it? Well here's what the problem is. It tried to read the disk, but disk spinny thingy is like, moving way too slow. Sometimes, the spinny thing won't even spin. Or it spins, then stops, then spins agian. Plus the red light thing won't work either. How do you fix it?

Hello all! I'm trying to set up my home theater for optimal video quality now that I have a TV with more than a coaxial input ! :D

My plan is to hook the DVD player up to the TV via the component in/outputs so I can use the progressive scan feature. My next issue then is to hook up my Tivo & cable box At the moment, they are connected with composite/RCA cables. Since my new TV has an S Video plug though, I'd like to use that.

Is there a big difference between the S Video and composite connections? As I understand it, the S Video can transfer signals at 480i resolution . . . what resolution do you get from composite cables?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Currently I'm using a 8 foot sheet of velvet cloth with eyelets and a couple of stands. I'm interested in a good quality outdoor screen - probably an inflatable idealy for less than $250.

I have a DVD0 player and a TV. I can use component cables with both. I can watch but there's no sound. I tried with another DVD player and I could listen but the image was like blue (no red).
What could be wrong? Are all the component cables the same?

If you lived in a small flat (12 ft square lounge) , what music and home entertainment system would you recommend? Wattage output?
I envisaged putting the existing computer and TV audio outputs through an amplifier, so it is really just an amplifier (with six inputs for DVD, cassette tape, radio*, CD, TV, computer, etc) and speakers (not too large: small flat). (* computer not powerful enough for the radio channels at present).

Hi. I want to install a DISH network receiver with 2 tuners having the second going to a different tv. However I only have access to a 1 coax cable, 1 cat 5, 1 fiber optic between the two tv's. The receiver requires an RCA cable from the receiver to the second tv. Is there a way that I can covert the RCA signal output from the receiver to a coax, cat 5 or fiber optic? I know there must be something out there, I just dont know what it is. Please help!
