Which format will win out in the end? I was leaning towards buying a HD DVD player until I heard the new PS3s that will be coming out will play Blu Ray discs and not HD DVDs.

I burn DVD's of family video, copies of movies I already own (my 4 year old loves to kill DVD's, so it's always good to have copies), and other items. Sometimes they play just fine, other times they pause about every 5 seconds while playing. I use the same burner with the same settings. When they skip, they play fine on the burner, just not on the family APEX DVD player. Is that just because I have a cheap DVD player, or is there a problem with the burner? Any insight would be appreciated.

I was looking for a movie projector that can be used in a fairly large/medium basement. I wanted to get good connectivity options (S-Video/Optical Audio Output/Cable Connectivity/PC Connectivity) as well as bright picture clarity together with less fan noice and less heat and reliability. Also I wanted to keep it below $1,200. May be I'm asking more but if anyone knows of a projector that I want, would be much appreciated.

this refers specifically to an electronics on-line purchase. Some manufacturers claim that they will not honor the warranty that normally comes with the item since it was not purchased from an "authorized" dealer. Isn't there a law that obligates the manufacturer to honor the exact terms of the warranty no matter where it was purchased (assuming it is a new, factory sealed item) ? Is there a government link to this issue?

I have an in-wall subwoofer driven by one channel of an old 85 watt-per-channel Yamaha receiver. The subwoofer vibrates quite a bit and I was wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to calm this down as its inside my wall. The grill comes off and it is possible to pad it somewhat...just curious if anyone has run into this problem and solved it.

I'm in the US, and I was told that dvb-s cards don't work in that states. Now, I want to know how can I do it then. I going to be building a new htpc in the next few months and satellite seems to be the best bet for my bugdet, but I don't want to buy the hardware and be stuck. Please help me out! I just want regular digital satellite. No HD! I'll do that later when I have the cash to do it.

Why are the labels on DVD's have region codes where some disks say it can be played on all regions? Same with NTSC,PAL and PAL-SECAM TV sets, cant they make TV sets that can be used anywhere in the world without those specs?
