Only consider it if you have a HDTV with a HDMI input, otherwise it would be a wast of money. Alot of money. You need to invest in a TV capable of displaying a screen resolution of 1080p before investing in a next gen DVD player. I would give it at least till the holiday season before jumping on any bandwagons, either Blu-ray or HD-DVD. Maybe by then the price will have come down from a cool grand for Blu-ray, expecially with the PS3 able to play Blu-ray movies and be "only" $599, available in November. If your into gaming, AND watching movies, AND have a capable TV, the PS3 will be the deal for you this Christmas. So to answer your question, no, I will not buy a Blu-ray player next week. Hope this helps.

Stick with the current format until there is a clear winner in the Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD thing. You don't want to end up with a $1000 Beta-max.

The Blu-Ray player will cost $1,000! I don't know if you can play Blu-Ray Movies on a PlayStation 3. If you can than you should wait. I thought the PS3 price would be less than 1,000 dollars. Anyway still wait until the price drops. It's like when DVDs came out. The price was outstanding. Now you can get a DVD player for $50.

stay with dvd for a while & wait a yr or more for the next gen. dvd war to clear up 1st. besides i'm not going to do what a lot a people will do is dump a whole collection of dvd's because of a new dvd format comes about i've invested too much money & yrs to just throw them away because some better comes along. hd has been here a long time now & does look better than dvd but regardless dvd's still give you a outstanding picture.

I would stick with the current DVD until the blu-ray has become dominant in the market (when it overcomes the dvd and there are many players and disk)

Stick with current format until one seems to dominate the market. But I have many friends that will buy a HD DVD player and a Sony Playstation 3. That way you have both.

I'm gonna stick with current DVDs. Once it's obvious that it's not just an electronic fad and Blue Ray/HD DVDs are taking over... then I'll probably buy one.

I would stick with current. I don't have a hi def tv, so I wouldn't need one.

I don't foresee buying a hi def tv until the prices come down more.
