I'm just about finished setting up my home theater. It is a dedicated theater with 3 rows of seats and no windows. I have a sony vpl-vw100 projector, 7.1 surround sound (svs pb/12 subwoofer, axiom surrounds, and B&W for the other speakers), and am trying to decide on a receiver and universal remote. I'm leaning toward getting satelite for the HD programming, but I haven't decided yet.

I almost bought the denon 4306 receiver, but I won't need one till mid september so I wanted to wait to see what comes out. I'm also going to put a game console, a replay tv, and a DVD player. Any suggestions on the receiver and remote?

What would be the best way to run the wiring throughout my living room without it sticking out everywhere? Should I run it along the borders of the walls all the way around?

If you're interested in putting together a home theater system but haven't yet, what's holding you back and what type of resource would you find most useful for helping you get your new home theater built fast?

I know, more money...me too...but seriously, besides that :)

Neither item has a transformer, just a plug for which I can get a 3 prong adapter easily. To get a proper power converter is expensive. Also, cos of the PAL/NTSC conflict will a Japanese DVD player work in the UK anyway? I know already that it plays UK DVDs.

I have a Kenwood surround sound system that I bought about three years ago from Best Buy. All of a sudden the display won't light up. Everything else works but that. I thought it was a light bulb, but every once in great while the display will come back on after it's been on awhile. Any ideas?

I have a HDTV and according to the manual it shows all the seperate components (DVD player,CD player,VCR, etc..) hooked up straight to the TV and only using my AV reciever for surround sound speakers.
But my AV reciever manual is just the opposite, with all components connected to the reciever and only the TV having a minimal of conections ie: satellite box .
Is one way better than another?

I have an AV selector switcher. it's primary use is to select between components where there is only one input jack on the receiver.
However, instead, I would like to use it to toggle between two sets of speakers. In effect the reverse of is normal use. the input would be where the speaker went in, the output would be connected to the actual speakers.
The switcher is passive, so I assume this can be done.
I just worry about "input" things going into "output" jacks and vise versa. Or doesn't it matter with a passive switcher
Can I do this w/o frying my speakers/amp?

Not just what it stands for, but should I choose it or Dolby Digital 5.1 if my receiver can do both.

How should I connect them to keep the resistance correct?

I'm not worried about stereo sound, it will just be in an announcers booth. Thanks.
