If your sat box has a optical or coaxial output use whatever method your receiver facilitates. If your box only has RCA connections, true 5.1 surround will not be possible. If your box has an HDMI connector and your TV does also, you can use an HDMI cable to run both video and digital audio to your TV, then digital audio via coaxial or optical from the TV to your receiver.
