So far only DVD players for HD have been released. They do not record. HD-DVD player costs about $500, the Blu-Ray about $1000. Movies on HD discs are also more expensive, and so far only a few titles have been released. There are recordable versions planned for the future, but no announcements.

I've just returned from 2012 in my time machine - I'd recommend waiting for the next generation after this one of DVD Players - their called 3SD and display a 3 dimensional image on your living room floor there is also an interactive mode in which (e.g.) you can join in a game of football in your garden against any teams you wish - This morning I joined in the world cup final game Italy v France and became Zidane - not only did I head butt the Italian but finished him off with a kick in the nuts.
