Just take it to a repair shop...but, its probably not worth it because the repair will be expensive. Just buy a dvd player, the cd's last forever and the quality is much better. Get in touch with technology!!! :)

It doesn't sound like it's broken, it sounds like it's dirty. Remove the cover, first check for any foreign objects (one of my grandchildren put a peanut butter sandwich in theirs.) If you don't see anything obvious, then you probably just need to clean it. There are products you can buy to clean a VCR, most of them are just isobutyl alcohol. Use some of the long cotton swabs, dip it in the alcohol and clean the rollers well. Please wear gloves and avoid spilling. Wear a mask to avoid breathing the vapors. It will dry soon. While you have the cover off of the VCR, use a can of air that is made to dust electronics. In the future, every so many hours of use, pop in a tape cleaner that uses the liquid. I hope this helps.

Open the door and inspect inside for foreign material such as paper. If you put in a new tape when this happened you probably accidentally put in the paper stickers, this is a very common problem. The paper sticks to the bottom of the tape and accidentally gets put in the VCR. This is probably the problem. Remove the paper and everything should be fine.

Remove covers and clean all you rollers with pure alcohol
, whats actually happening is theyr're getting a build up and causing them to slip, hence, inoperative.
