I'd have to do research, but I think it was around 1990. I know I waited longer than many people. And it was Sony's Beta-Max, for God's sake.

I am thinking of buying one in the future. The sound is great. Thing is, our room is not a usual shape and the sound will have to bounce quite far on the one wall. The T.V. system will be in a 10X16 area (t.v. and speaker being on the 10 foot wide wall) but one side wall (16 foot) is a knee wall and there will be a games room area beside it and it too is approximately 10X16. Does anyone know how well the sound bounces and if it would be good stereo sound in the T.V. area?

When purchasing a movie from iTunes that says format: widescreen does it play in widescreen on a widescreen TV? Since you can't hook up your TV to your iPod with component cable then I can't imagine it working.

I am looking to build my home theater system, what is the best TV, cost, quality, life, etc? I wish to connect a computor to it for surfing the internet, playing games, listening to music etc. I will also use a game-cube and x-box as well and of course watch movies. What is the minimum critera needed to do all this and get the best video and audio I can get (with in reason of course i dont have unlimited funds I was thinking nothing more that $3-4000)

I know there are differences in opinion if component cables can provide 1080p quality. I also know there is talk about component only being able to deliver 1080p video, but no audio (supposedly due to copyright protection). My problem is I have bought a tv with HDMI but my surround is component only. Is it possible to somehow get a 1080p picture on my tv while using my component receiver for the audio? I just got my surround a year ago so I don't really want to go out and buy another receiver. Am I worrying for no reason since 1080p isn't going to be widely used anytime soon anyhow? In 4-5 years I wouln't feel so bad about upgrading my receiver. Also, I have found advertised 1080p component cables and component to HDMI converters (this could be an option) has anyone ever tried these? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I have a 55 inch HD projection television, set up in my living room. My living room is about 12ft long by 20ft wide, what is the best viewing distance for this type of set. I have a 7.1 surround sound system that is configured easily, so placing my viewing area will be easy to adjust. I usually watch HD broadcasts rather than SD broadcasts, if that makes a diffrence. Thanks for all your feedback.

I just purchased surround sound dvd system 5.1. I am having trouble figuring out how to hook it up to my tv to hear the sounds from the cable channels. How does that work? Do i need special wires? All i see on the back of my tv is 3 input jacks. on the front of my tv are also 3 input jacks. I have Aux 1, 2, etc. Will it still work?

I have a Sony STR DE875 that Ive been having problems with lately. The center speaker goes in and out (Ive tried replacing the wires and triple checking the connections and checking the speaker on the other working connections, so it has to be something Im missing) and the surround speakers do not work at all (same as center). Please give me any info on this D:

I just got "Band On The Run" and "Hotel California" and not only am I blown away by the fact that my equipment will play it but the fact that they sound fantastic. I think this may be the key to stopping the download horde. I want to get my hands on some more stuff. I would love to hear Radiohead in DTS...

I posted this question in "music" but apparently it'd too "hard" for that crowd...
