I checked them on a new reciever and they still don't work. Is it worth repairing or is it time to buy new speakers?

It sounds like your receiver may have blown them. It may be time to get some better speakers. Get some good quality speakers that have a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms and can handle your receiver's rated amplifier output power.

Your speakers could have been underdriven by your receiver. Even more reason to get speakers that match your receiver's output power. Or, replace your receiver and your speakers -and then voila!

Fisher has been gone for quite some time, so getting parts for the speakers is not likely. Re-coneing is nearly a lost art anymore due replacement speakers are of such better quality and don't cost all that much. It would be un-common that you would "blow" two speakers only on one side of a stereo, so i would guess that the right Chanel is also trashed and has DC on the speaker out puts (which is what may have blown the 2 in the first place) so you need to check that out before using new speakers or you will blow them too.

Check cables for a bad one before taking it to the shop. Yes it can be repaired if it is in the unit.. most likely the right audio outputs are bad (could also open case and see if left/rt channels have a fusable link in unit and see if one is blown). They are NOT cheap to replace, but cheaper than buying a new unit.

Ask tech to make sure the unit is worth the repair price.

Replace the speakers and the receiver, the new stuff is a lot better and a lot cheaper.

If they are fisher speakers also...throw them away
but first check the back, sometimes they have fuses you can replace ..sometimes they don't
