I have a Sony STR DE875 that Ive been having problems with lately. The center speaker goes in and out (Ive tried replacing the wires and triple checking the connections and checking the speaker on the other working connections, so it has to be something Im missing) and the surround speakers do not work at all (same as center). Please give me any info on this D:

Look through your owner's manual. It is one of the most thorough manuals of any manufacturer. If you don't have your manual, you can download it (providing that you have an Adobe reader on your computer to read "PDF" files).

And/or, you can try different surround sound modes. Start with 5-channel stereo so that if the speakers don't all work in that mode, then you can work your way in from there. If it's not your connections, then it might just be the receiver having problems.

I am not a big fan of the regular (i.e. besides the "ES") series Sony receivers' quality. That being said, good quality A/V receivers nowadays can be had for under $200 on the internet if not from your local CE store (Best Buy, Tweeter, Circuit City, etc.). Consider brands like Onkyo, JVC, or Yamaha.

Try using contact cleaner on your speaker connections and the volume control knob. They tend to get dust particles in them and would cause intermittent performance. Sometimes your audio source is not surround sound friendly and this function doesnt operate. None the less leave it on "surround" and the tuner will adjust accordingly.
