Odds are they are fine. there generally isn't enough current comming from a couple AA's or the like to burn out anything. If they don't work on their own in a day... just take them apart. generally remotes come apart with a few screws, or they unsnap around the groove on the outside (or a combination of both.) then clean it all with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Clean the board and the back of the button pad. don't worry about anything getting wet, it's all sealed. Then just let the board and pad dry, and reassemble. Try it... they'll most likely work. (if you do end up buying a new remote don't buy factory remotes... they can be as much as $60 a piece!!! Just go down to the store and buy a universal remote for $5-10. Get one that does multiple sources (TV, DVD, Sat, Cable, VCR all in one)

you will get a used television + distant for £20 from the British heart commencing place shops (some do sell electric powered products). How did you be ready to lose the distant? could you ever lose your handbag? I actually have a 14" which I never use yet I assume you are the different end of the country.

If its water or diet soda, just wait a few days for them to dry out.
If it was a juice or anything that would deposit a solid, you may be out of luck.
If you tried to use them before they dried out, you may have burned out the circuits already.
If you need another remote, try the manufacturers' websites.

It probably too late now to save it, but for future reference, blow dry it right a way and don't use it until the next day.
