I just purchased surround sound dvd system 5.1. I am having trouble figuring out how to hook it up to my tv to hear the sounds from the cable channels. How does that work? Do i need special wires? All i see on the back of my tv is 3 input jacks. on the front of my tv are also 3 input jacks. I have Aux 1, 2, etc. Will it still work?

If your TV does not have "Audio Out" jacks, you're hosed.

Are you using a cable box? Many of them have "Audio Out" jacks that you can run into the amp.

Don't have a cable box? Have a VCR? Watch TV thru the VCR's tuner and use the "Audio Out" of the VCR as an input to the amp.

Previous respsonse was correct, you won't hear in surround but you will hear in stereo or mono depending on the encoding. In the case of stereo it will sound better thru the system when compared to the TV speakers.

Bad News. They are only in Stereo. That means whatever you do is always only stereo, even if you split the signals on your system.

ESPN is many times in dual language. That means that you get the signal only mono because the other channel is for another language, depending in which country you are.

The new DVD movies have usually now 5.1 system.
