I want to purchase a Sony sa-wx700 powered subwoofer, but I noticed that in the owners manual it said that it was pushing power through 3ohms and my receiver is 8ohms. Now my question would be, is it the built-in amp that is pushing (outputting) 3ohms or is it the input accepts 3ohms? And would it work with my 8ohm receiver?

I had my old passive subs connected to my old reciever with the standard caonnections(analog, whatever, the red and white connectors...) because it had an ntegrated subwwofer amplifier.

I then had that reciever hooked up to my new reciever wich only has a powered subwoofer out.

my old reciever with the built in sub amplifier finaly ate the dust, thus leaving my passive subs useless.

what is the best way to get my passive subs back into my home theater system?
what is the most affordable way?
I have looked for another reciever with passive subwoofer out but they all have powered subwoofer outs these days.

10 points to the one I feel helps me solve my problem the best.

I need to understand surround sound more before i buy any. What is the difference between a "receiver" or just buying "home theater in a box". When does surround sound work with cable television? Satelite speakers are cordless right? How much watts do u really need for decent surround sound? Someone help me and tell me everything you know! thank you

purchased on clearance at a Target store about a year ago. No part or model numbers on either the remote, the player itself, or the owners manual. Unit is a 5 disc changer with surround sound. Banging the remote flat on the floor used to "wake it up" for a few days. Batteries are fine. Thanks for any help.

just got a different vcr as ours broke (kids) it was all set up fine with the last vcr had the ntl cable in back of vcr and then the connection cable from the vcr to the telly, recorded from ntl easy. set up the same with new one it just wont as i put the ntl cable into the vcr the pic comes on if the vcr is turned off, turn it on and it goes fuzzy (so you cant see it) ive tried tuning everything but cant get it to work i can either have one or the other. the only difference between the vcrs is the new one has 2scart sockets and the old had 1, ive tried gong through av but same prob cant reccord. driving me nuts! does anyone have any ideas. all i want to do is be able to record from the ntl and watch it aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! help

Yep, the center and back speakers are not working. They did though, until last month. I tried re-installing the driver but that changed nothing. This is their 3rd year with me,so maybe they've grown old.. Both the speakers and the sound-card is by "Creative".

Please help me, i really love my home theater.

The surround back speakers are (don't cringe) Bose 191's, and fronts Bose 251's (already had the 251's), Aperion 533-VAC center and SVSound 25-31 PCI sub. When playing something with a lot of bass, like Star Wars I'll get a popping sound through the speakers. I've used the Audyssey MultEQ Auto EQ Setup System and made some small adjustments. This is my first surround system so I'm a little lost.
Thanks
