poor guy. its true, bose sounds great for highs and mids. but they totally lack lows. and they are one of the most overpriced, overated speaker company ever. before you buy any bose, check out brands from a private audio shop, NOT best buy, like these

boston acoustics
klipsch referacne series
b&w
paridigm

hope this helps. speaking buying is like buying used cars. done fall in love with the first thing you hear/see. and shop around to make sure your getting what you want.

NO!

Bose is over priced, and they under perform. It's a pretty common topic on any home theater website or discussion board.

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE "DEMO".

It's in a controled environment where they have built the room around the speakers. You are building a system around the room. Go to any decent home theater shop and listen to a pieced together system. It will outperform the Bose and cost less.

Good Luck!

Ahh run as fast as you can!

The quality of the speakers is very poor. As in very cheap parts marked way up.
Bose spends thousands on marketing, designing rooms and displays but puts the lowest quality into their products. The room you were in was impressive, not the speakers.

Go to a real Stereo store (not circuit city and the like) and listen to other speakers in the same price range. Remember (for example) they won't be $50 speakers marked up to $800 in a $50,000 room. They will be $400 speakers marked up to $800 in a room that is what it is, not designed to make them sound better, just like your living room.

here is a little insite to the Bose practice.

I think Bose every thing is a little over priced but man do they sound unbelievable. Their acoustic sound wave products are the best sound equipment I've ever heard. As far as whether they're worth it or not is totally up to you. If I could afford Bose I would love to own some of their products.

Go to a high end stereo shop in your town and listen to several. The stereo guy at mine downplays the Bose. He thinks they are overpriced for the sound quality.

There are way better systems for the same price. They do look nice though. But there is actually a gap in the frequency spectrum where it can't produce the sound. I have posted this link before but check it out. It is long though.

Not me, that's for sure. I think for the same price you can get way better speakers and components if you buy them separately.
