How can I hook up a single computer to 6 different sets of computer speakers, each set in a different room?

You can go with salvador's suggestion, or if you want wirelss, check out audio streaming. If you have the money, check out the Apple Airport Express. Its a wifi device that plugs into a wall socket and then connected to a stereo or powered pc speakers. You use iTunes to control what music is played on each Airport Express. So lets say you have 3 Airport Express in 3 different rooms. You can play the same music on all 3 or select which one to play each own playlists. The really cool thing about this is that if you have laptop, you can wirelessly move about the house and select your songs. It is also portable, so you can bring the Airport Express to a friend's house and use it (as long as they use iTunes).

Look into a public address system or a multiple output speaker amplifier.

Buy one 1/8inch Y splitter with 2 female sides and one male side.

Connect male side to main computer.

Connect female ends to
two three port headphone boosters.

Buy six extension cables. Each with female end on one side and one male end on another.

Connect the male ends to each of the ports on the boosters. Connect other end to speakers.
