I bought a brand-new vcr-dvd recorder and have been dubbing my vcr tapes onto dvd+r blank discs. when i try to play thm in dvd players that play dvd+r's, the burned dvds still dont work. why not?
The dvd/vcr recorder is a new version. bought at best buy

Another possibility--and I'm not presuming your intelligence, just making sure nothing's being overlooked--is that you haven't "finalized" your recorded discs; it's a process that you need to put them through before they can be playable on other DVD players.

Note that most new dvd-vcr combos enable you to burn on both +R and -R. However with older dvd players, they had a preference for -R dics probably because of format restrictions present back then but with the newer dvd players, most of them are multiformat and multi region.
Safest option for anyone is to burn on a -R disc because it plays for sure.

depends on your dvd players. they may not be able to play dvd+r dvds.some play only dvd-r dvds. could be also the brand of dvd+r dvds. some players will play only certain brands.

May be its the speed to which u are burning them,the speed might just be higher than the speed of the dvd+r player speed.

because you are burning DVD+ and trying to play on a DVD-

because the dvd's are not formatted to work in other dvd's
