Both Bose and Bang & Olufsen are highly overpriced and overrated brands. That said, there are many other brands well worth considering. Aperion Audio is a relative newcomer, only six or seven years old, but their speakers are awesome. They are a dedicated speaker manufacturer...companies like Sony and Yamaha that make all kinds of stuff don't tend to make very good speakers. Aperion and other companies like Axiom Audio sell online only, no middleman, which means more speaker for your dollar. My 632-LR front speakers alone provide far better sound than any Bose product.

Personally, after being in the Audio/Video business for over 10 years, I would never buy a Bose product. The materials they use are inferior to most brands, and their sound quality is mediocre at best. the B&O is an excellent system, although they are expensive.
Look at some of the other suggestions from the other users and you may find something you really like and save some dough.
Companies like Onkyo, Denon, psb, Polk Audio, Definitive Tech, Yamaha provide great sound and aren't wallet-busters.

Don't know about B&O, but definitely NOT Bose. Read this fact-sheet: http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html
I sold off my Bose cube-speakers and got myself some real speakers - Wharfedale Diamond 8 Series. The difference is night and day. I got the Wharfedales (British speakers) for less than half the price I paid for the Bose speakers. Stay away from Bose !!

I use to think Bose was king owning a pair of 901's even after 10
years went by and the speakers disentergrated, they sold me 901's at cost. But since then I have found Onxy Rockets at AV123.COM
The sound as beautiful as they look. And they compare to
speakers costing 2 to 3 times as much. Above all they allow you
to listen to them free, if you dont like them you return them.
You have to pay for return postage. My nephew has 901's and 321 system. He heard my 5.1 said he heard music and effects in movies he never heard on his Bose. Give them a try.
I have 4 901's with 2 stands 2 equalizers for sale they are in very good condition. raadwyer1959@yahoo.ca
High Fidelity types refer to Bose as Buy other sound equipment.
A lot of marketing hype.

Stay away from both. You can get better quality for your money if you buy separate components and speakers from brands like marantz, boston acoustic, psb, pioneer elite, NHT, NAD.
The simple fact of the matter is that bose has withdrawn any of their equipment from being tested by audiophile magazines and their set ups in stores like Best Buy are kept away from other sound equipment so you can't directly compare it to other products. B&O is basically Bose but with a Scandinavian name.

B&O is easily more high-end quality than Bose. Do a hands-on comparison for yourself. Let your ears and eyes make the decision.

Both suck ***... Bose costs too damn much and Bang is too Damn pretty. I would go with Bang though out of the 2. both are expensivel...bose are smaller, and Bang looks cooler and sounds better...I would not shop at BB because their workers don't know anything...

Ok, neither.
Bose is very overpriced for what you get. You can do much much better for the price.
B&O ... it's for people who care more about how something looks than how it sounds.
Go to a real hi fi store, or to a Magnolia within BB, and listen to some good brands like Boston Acoustics, Cambridge Audio, and NHT.

Neither!!
Both of the companies you mention build kit more for their looks, than their sound quality - pretty pointless, wouldn't you agree? (It's a bit like building a car that looks stunning, but goes like a slug and handles like a wobbly roller skate...)
Just about anything else on the market sounds far, far better than either Bose or B&O. Visit a decent hi-fi / home entertainment outlet and hear it for yourself.
