If you lived in a small flat (12 ft square lounge) , what music and home entertainment system would you recommend? Wattage output?
I envisaged putting the existing computer and TV audio outputs through an amplifier, so it is really just an amplifier (with six inputs for DVD, cassette tape, radio*, CD, TV, computer, etc) and speakers (not too large: small flat). (* computer not powerful enough for the radio channels at present).

a hundred watts, 2 audio equipment? lots loud if each and every speaker is a million foot removed from each and every of your drummer's ears. All seriousness aside, that appears like this kind of ordinary question, yet there is not any ordinary answer. I even have continuously positioned my drummers on closed headphone video demonstrate instruments simply by fact i do no longer purely like the sound of rather loud wedge video demonstrate instruments interior the room. This open wedge computer screen undertaking works very properly for better venues simply by fact the abode stages severely overpower the computer screen bleed from the degree. In smaller rooms, the drummer's practicable computer screen point is lots too great for the room, and it forces up the known point in an attempt to stability the blend. in case you're caught with a wedge computer screen, attempt bodily raising it up closer on your drummer's ear. each and every halving of the area (ie 4'-2') is the corresponding to doubling the amplifier potential, without raising the computer screen quantity. I even have additionally had drummers who artwork properly with a wedge and headphones concurrently. they could slide the headphones off one ear to get the soundness that they desire. That way, i could desire to cut back the point necessary for the drummer's wedge. If the two audio equipment you consult with on your question are the main considerable (purely) audio equipment, and you haven't any longer any computer screen audio equipment, then all the solutions I even have given are somewhat ineffective to you. desire something helps right here. Cheers!

Getting the right speakers is important. For a small room a high quality speakers of 2.1 channels is best suitable. Just keep the bass speaker on the floor itself and the sattelite speakers in the ear level that is what i mean the right combination. You will notice u are rocking, just try once.

Its the same theory as with cars, a more powerful system will perform better at lower levels but will be capable of handling the power when required.

I would recommend 100w RMS per channel

Don't stack your small room with hifi equipment. Look at Tivoli, they got nice stuff, good quality. I'd consider good hifi instead of surround.
