The Canon 850 with wide angle lens is reviewed as being so so picture quality wise. The 750 is far from perfect in operation. The finepix F40 is superb indoors, but metering/ graining an issue outdoors. The Panasonic TZ3 loses significant detail owing to over agressive noise supression. The Ricoh Caplio6 has bad fringing etc etc. Agreed! I have seen the shots.
Is it unrealistic for an old film camera enthusiast who favours a 20 year old Minolta to expect much in the way of a few good stills from a digital compact running on auto? Are they all merely ' happy snappys' bristling with electronic features? Face recognition for goodness sake. Time to add movies when they outperform a Hasselblad as far as I am concerned! Meanwhile the pixel count continues to rise which is arguably counter productive quality wise. Are there any professionals out there who can advise please?

I am looking for a semi-cheap (less than $150) digital camera that takes really crisp/clear pictures, has a nice size LCD screen, and is just a reliable camera. Any suggestions?

I recently dropped and broke my SD400 and sent it in to Canon for repairs. The estimated cost is $115. However, Canon has also offered me a deal to buy a refurbished Powershot SD600 for $125. Is the SD600 that much better than the SD400? Is a refurbished camera worth it?

I am traveling to Europe in about a week and I am staying there for 12 days! I was wondering if anyone knew some good digital cameras to take for traveling. I want a camera that can take very good quality pictures, is easy to use, when you press the button to take the picture I want it to take right away not wait 4 seconds after I press the button. Also a camera that took good action shots would help. I dont want to spend more than $250. If anyone know about a good digital camera, or the best brand of cameras, any info you have would help. Thanks!

ISO (which is from 100 to 1250)
Burst (H, L and Infinity)
Slow Shutter (1/8- to 1-)
AutoBracket

Also, I have options like Macro, Normal Picture, Intelligent ISO, and Scene Mode. So how can I make optimum use of these...

And how can I set these options so I get the best pictures? (I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX30)
Help.

Clueless.

Its a Cannon power shot. When you take the picture it just turns black for like a minute. And when it shows the picture its all blurry and its really bright, and you can barely tell what it is. Its a setting and i dont know how to get it off of that setting. Whats wrong with it and how do i fix it??? thanks.

When connecting Sony camera to computer it transfers the photos to Cyberview(Sony's software). And at the same time into My Pictures. I then transfer photos from My Pictures to
CD-RW drive on computer. From there put them on a cd. Question is when photos go from camera into My Pictures is it still at 6 megapixels (the way my camera took the shot ) or did it downsize to JPEG? On the CD all the vital info is there such as focal length, shutter speed, aperture, date on down to time of day. But again from cd when enlarging, am I enlarging from a quality of 6 megapixel or quality of jpeg?

Needs to be compact, I travel A LOT, I like good quality photos... you know not grainy or obviously digitized, I'd like it to be rechargeable. Naturally there's the issue of cost, but I'll figure something out... SO yeah, compact, lightweight, decent memory, good photos, durable...

When connectng Sony camera to computer it downloads from the memory stick onto Cyberview (Sony's software), and also into My Pictures simultaneously. It seems I can't move pictures from Cyberview. What I do is download pictures from My Pictures to computers CD-ROM. And from there put them on a CD. Question is when pictures go from my camera into My Pictures is it still a 6 megapixel shot (the way my camera took shot or did it downsize to jpeg? On the CD all my info is there as to focal length, shutter speed, aperture, to time of day shot was taken.
