I took up photography a little while ago and I absolutely love it. I would like to do sports photography but, to be honest, I have no idea how to go about doing it. Any tips on how to go about building a portfolio and where to start when applying for jobs somewhere - or even what companies to apply to? Thanks.

Haha - yes or no. That's all. I'm just putting this here to give our Pentaxian friends the moment of glory that they deserve. I always stuck by my Pentax film cameras (like the non-USA world did) and I feel your pain. Pentax was slow to get on the digital train and lost market share. Now that they are fully dedicated to digital photography with no more distractions from making film cameras, we can expect Pentax to become the third power. This should make you proud:

But seriously, take a moment to share your joy with the rest of us.

I am using a 35mm camera and recently I noticed that most of the pictures developed by this camera have a bright light mostly in the left side of the pictures and sometimes in the center and right side. Sometimes this 'light' is red instead of white. NOT ALL OF THE PICTURES ON THE FILM HAVE THIS DEFECT; ONLY ABOUT 50% OF THEM. By the way, this problem my occur even if the sun is behind the person taking the picture.

this is one of the pictures in the film:

Last night I uploaded some pictures from my digital camera to my computer. It uploaded a few and stopped working. The battery was dead so I put some new ones it(rechargeable i dont think they was all the way charged up) and it said only one usb connection allowed. What does that mean? The only thing else I had in where the plug goes was my scanner cord. Please answer!

my 3 year old dropped the digital camera while the lens was extended (two-piece lens). The smaller section of the lens was jammed up, causing it to not be able to be retracted. Is there any simple mechanical fix to this?

I paid for professional photo recovery from my 1 gb memory card. They put all 200 of my pictures on a cd for me but when I try to open them, most of the files are so corrupt I can't even view them. However, the thumbnails for every image are intact. Is there a chance I can still get my pictures back? Any suggestions? Thanks

I want a budget camera $130 or less. I'd like it to be small enough to fit in a purse/pocket, and take fair quality pictures. I'd also like if it recorded video. I want to be able to take it to school to take pictures whenever I can. I don't want it to be more than $130 so if it gets stolen, it's not the end of the world. I have a DSLR that was $800 so I don't need to "step it up and get something better for $50 more" or something like that. I have something way better, I just want one to carry around on a daily basis that has good reviews.

Thanks!
