It is perfectly decent. There are ones that do more (10-12 megapixels). However even a good 6 megapixel camera will permit a high-quality poster size enlargement from its photos.

The problem comes in when you don't get close enough to a photo subject or if you like just one small part of a photo. Then you want the pixels in that area to be used for the entire picture. That is where having a lot of pixels per square inch comes in handy.

Yes, 7 megapixels is very good. Basically, the more megapixels the larger the photos you can print. You don't really need any bigger unless you want to print poster size photos. I have 10megapixels on mine...but its more of a pain...because downloading the photos onto the internet takes forever cause the pics are sooo massive. I would go for 6 or 7...that would be perfect!

7 megapixels is more than enough. My daughter gets excellent 8X10 prints with her 5 megapixel super zoom camera. In the long run it all depends on the lens, size of sensor and amount of megapixels.

No, that should be great. I get very nice pictures from my 6 megapixel Kodak.
