Circuit city has the D50 on sale for about 30 more than the D40. I find alot of mixed opinions on many sites that say which is better and why just want to hear it from here before I go out there tomorrow.

I would like a zoom lens to use while traveling, my kids' sport events, indoor performances, etc. I have the 18-70 lens and I am learning dSLR techniques after years of being a point and shooter. I would like to stay south of the $500 range but if needed can go to $750.
I do not plan to use a tripod and will be traveling with the additional lens so weight has some factor (image quality has higher priority)

I understand that faster shutter is better but not what is fast enough.

I have a short list by just searching J&R website. Your suggestions from this list or another are appreciated.

Nikon (2156) 55-200 F4-5.6 (~ $170),

Nikon (2161) 70-300 F4.5-5.6 VR (~$600),

Tamron (AF017N-300) 70-300 F4-5.6 (~$200),

Tamron (672D) 75-300 F4-5.6 (~$150),

Sigma (NH28-300) 28-300 F3.5-6.3 (~$280),

Thanks,

I've had a look at a lot of reviews for different makes, but the one make that keeps coming out on or near the top is Canon. All I need the camera for is holiday snaps and pictures of my children, and I reckon I'm gonna go for the Canon a630. Does anyone else have one of these, and if so, would you recommend it? Or, can anyone else recommend a different camera in the same price bracket? Thank-you.

I want a thin camera, has to look as modern as possible, I like Samsung NV3 but it has terrible reviews in many places... I would like optical zoom and options for the more "I'm taking pictures of me, my friends, nature and cars" type... thanks!

I just love the Canon 400D which I used a couple of times but its beyond my price range. I was thinking of picking up a compact which gives nice and clear images and can also give reasonable night shots. I was thinking maybe the Powershot S3 IS or the Pro1. I dont want to just stick to Canon but to be honest just dont know that much about cameras but would like to learn to take really good shots.
Does anybody know of similar cameras that would be more around the price range of the the Powershots but is good value for money??

I went to a live event and I took picture's, using my digital camera. The picture's on my digital camera looked sharp and clear, but when my husband took them to Wal-Mart and developed them himself, using the machine they provide, for people who take picture's using digital camera's and who want to develop them theirselves, some came out clear, some came out fuzzy. What happened and is it possible for me to have them reprinted so that they will look clearer? Thanks.

Hey, lately, my digital camera has been draining batteries. It is an HP Photosmart M415 and on the batteries it says: 700mAh Ni-Cd Rechargeable. It is very annoying to have to put the batteries in the recharger for fourteen hours just to take two pictures so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I know that you just cant increase them but is it true that the higher number of mega pixels the better the camera or is that complete and utter crap/
