I want a thin camera, has to look as modern as possible, I like Samsung NV3 but it has terrible reviews in many places... I would like optical zoom and options for the more "I'm taking pictures of me, my friends, nature and cars" type... thanks!

Well for one thing you cant believe everything you read in the reviews of cameras. The Samsung NV3 is a great camera. I dont have one but I got to play with for about 5 hours one day. (I work in a camera store.) I do have a Nikon S9. Its very thin has a 2.5 LCD and it lighter then my cellphone.I really like Nikon cameras because all you need is your camera and your set. You dont need to carry aroung a big book on how to ues it because all the help features are right there in the camera. The S9 was many different modes for taking pictures of yourself, friends, nature and cars. If you want to really get a good look at different cameras go to a shop. Most will let you hold the camera and play with it.

Forget thin and modern-looking. You need something chunky that you can hold on to and a proper eye-finder so that you can frame up accurately, steady the camera, see in bright sunlight and not have to lean over backwards.

Olympus MJU740. Weather resistant, optical image stabilization and 5X optical zoom. Huge screen 7MP, great camera.
