can anyone recommend a moderately priced digital camera with some manual control of shutter and aperture? i can't afford to spend $500 for a good digital slr....i can really only do $300 or less. does anyone have a suggestion? also needs to be at least 4 megapixels and preferably a well known brand. i did google this and check circuit city, best buy, etc, but i couldn't quite find one...i don't think-- i'm not good with camera lingo and i wasn't sure what phrases to look for. thanks!

red eye is caused by the infra red flash that bounces off the retina lens at the rear of the eye this we dont see just milli seconds before the main flash is fired at the subject hence the expression red eye.

I just got it for Christmas & had only used it twice before this started.

It will let me take 1 picture, then it freezes; the lens stays out, light goes off & it wont let me shut the camera off.

I have to remove the batteries & put them back in, when it does come back on, the first pic i try to take makes it freeze again.

The batteries are not dead! What can be the problem???!!!

PLEASE HELP! THANKS!

Hi, I just recently bought a Nikon D50. I'm getting used to it but there are some things that I still don't understand.
Sometimes, usually in M mode...I'll try to take a picture, and it'll take the picture, but the shutter will stay closed for like 10 seconds. And then the picture would come out all white and very bad. What does this mean? Do I need to change some settings on my camera? Anyone willing to help me?

Let me explain:
I know that the shutter speed/aperature effect the way the light hits the physical film, but on a digital camera, they have the same settings, yet there is no film to expose to light. What's the deal with that? How does a digital camera work, exactly, and why does it have the same settings as a manual eventhought it doesn't actually expose ANY true film?

I’m sorry but this is going to be long…
I have Kodak EasyShare Z740 (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2005_reviews/z740.html) and I can't stand it! :c( Has anyone else had problems with their pictures coming out with flat, abnormally bright, almost cartoonish colors when printed at a store? If I'm looking at them on my computer they are fine, it's just when I get them printed.
I had Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC33 (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/lc33.html) before this and I LOVED it! The pictures came out awesome! They were crisp and the colors were vivid but natural looking and looked just as good as my Canon EOS slr. My Kodak has a higher megapixel rate than my Panasonic and my Panasonic still came out better so please don’t tell me that it all depends on the megapixel rate. I've tried touching up my Kodak's pictures and it gets even more cartoony. Does anyone have and suggestions??? I get my prints done at Walmart. Could that be part of the problem? Where does everyone else get them done?
Unfortunately I had my first Panasonic in my book bag one day with a bottle of wine and my roommate dropped the bag on the floor and the camera got soaked. It was going to cost me more to fix it than what I paid for it.
Has anyone used the Panasonic DMC-FZ7 6MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/fz7.html)? I'm thinking about switching back...
I've looked up the reviews for it I'm just looking for personal experience. I think that people who have always had a Kodak might not have a comparison for picture quality or they aren't printing them out and that's why its getting such great reviews
Would you chose the Panasonic DMC-FZ7 or the Kodak EasyShare Z740? Any comments/advice would be more than welcome! Thanks! :c)

There are so many choices. I have a Mac computer so keep that in mind.
I am looking for a fairly larger than normal screen. My eyesight isn't that good so I don't like small screens. I would want something of at least 5 -6megapixels. Plus a movie mode and plenty of memory.

I don't want a beginners camera but somewhere in the intermediate.
Easy to use and printing 5x7's and possibly 8x10's occasionally.
Many of my friends have Canons. The size of the camera is not that important. It doesn't have to be so small to fit in a thimble. I can spend upwards to $450. Thanks .

I have one of these cameras and I have learned my way around the camera pretty well with the manual settings. My outdoor photo's are wonderful (outside light never gives me any trouble) however I am having alot of trouble with indoor photos. Mostly the color is yellowish and not very pleasing. I generally set my camera to M (manual) and then depend on the camera to tell me the correct shutter speed and aperture for the available lighting, but the photo's still come out a distasteful color. Is there a film available for 35mm that would help with the color? Could I adjust the exposure to make the color better? any advice is greatly appreciated. I am to shoot some photo's at a church event inside the sanctuary and I am concerned about the yellowish tones in my indoor photo's. What advice would you suggest with the type camera I have?

I want to buy a new digital camera, and in the past I've always bought them straight from whichever store, like FutureShop. I just go, pick the one I want, and pay for it.
Lately, though, I've been browsing online to see what's available, and the prices on some of the sites online are quite a lot better than instore. And I don't mean e-bay or anything.
I've been looking at nextag.ca - is this a good portal site?
IS it really economical to buy online? Or is it safer to buy instore?

I have on old SLR camera, and about half of my pictures are coming out with huge red spots and streaks on the pictures. And I looked at the negatives, the streaks are also on the outside of the image on the negative, it's also on the areas of the negatives in between and above the pictures. What is causing this? Here is an example, where you can see a red area on the cat. http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/7862/tmpphpxp3thjow2.jpg
