I want to buy a camera with around 10x Optical Zoom. I have around £100 - £200.

Canon Powershot A630 or basicaly look at anything Canon that fits into your price range depending on where you can purchase your electronics. They own the digital camera market right now.

I personaly use the Powershot A620 and have found it a great value. The pictures are top notch. Hard to beat at this price range.

Also do not get caught up in the zoom range of taking pictures. A wider angled lens is much more useable than a zoom anyday, though people only want to talk about the zoom. If you can find a camera that fits in your budget with a wide angle 28 (35mm equivalent) then get it.

Below is a pretty reputable site for digital camera reviews. Give it shot, a little bit of research will prevent you from making a bad choice.

Good luck.

-- Though I must put a warning to stay away from the Canon iXus line. Not because they are bad cameras but because they are so small the flash is tiny; making the flash of limited use.

The new canon, semi-compact are good.
What you are referring to is an Extended zoom camera.

If you want to go up to the high end of your budget, try for a Canon S3 IS, you may be able to find the Sony H5 (not H2) and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5.

Of those three, they are all about the same, with the Panasonic least expensive, Sony most expensive. The Canon comes in the middle but still pricey for what you get. However, if you go for the Canon S2, which is last year's model and is virtually the same as the S3, it's about $100 US cheaper.

There are lots of web sites to look up cameras. Check out extended zoom cameras.

This depends on what else is important to you. If it were me then I would
Go to http://camchooser.com/index.php?module=search

Then move the Price slider to 100-200 and the Optical Zoom slider to the 9-11. This gives you your shortlist. If you use Firefox, the direct link is ( http://camchooser.com/index.php?module=search#type=all&sensor=all&LCD=all&minprice=101&maxprice=204&minres=0&maxres=11&minzoom=9&maxzoom=11&p=1&order=sort_order%20ASC )

After that use
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/ and
http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html

to read reviews and hone in on what suits you best. When you've decided then you can go back to camchooser.com or any of the many price comparison sites, to find the best price!

Hope this helps
