I have on old SLR camera, and about half of my pictures are coming out with huge red spots and streaks on the pictures. And I looked at the negatives, the streaks are also on the outside of the image on the negative, it's also on the areas of the negatives in between and above the pictures. What is causing this? Here is an example, where you can see a red area on the cat. http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/7862/tmpphpxp3thjow2.jpg

teef said he's not a film expert, yet his answer is excellent. I'd suspect #2 before #1, though. You have a light leak in your camera. It is remotely possible that your processing center has a problem, but if this has happened to more than one roll of film and the rolls were developed on different days, I'd suspect your camera first.

Good answers above. I would strongly suspect a light leak, especially in an older SLR. The seals deteriorate and the light comes shining through.

They make seal replacement kits, if you're handy you can fix it yourself. I did seals on my Canon AE1 many years ago, and I am by no means handy with things! It wouldn't be a real expensive job for your camera shop to fix, either.

Another possibility is the hinge may be loose on the door. If you like the camera and aren't ready for a new one, I'd take it to a shop and see what they have to say.

I am no film expert, but one of two possibilities occur to me.

1) Old film stock? Check even if you bought it recently that the film is in fact fresh.

2) Light leaking into the camera. Is the red in the same place every time? May indicate that the door seal is faulty or something similar.
