I'm getting a new PC soon and as far as I know it doesn't come with an OS. I've been fine with Windows XP on my old computer but my current system is only an old Athlon and so I will be making the jump to 64-bit dual-core.

The problem is I can't find any stores on the Internet that sell 64-bit versions of Windows XP (I know it exists) and I am unsure about getting Vista due to compatability with games or other programs.

Which OS is better for a new system; Vista or XP, ignoring price as they are similar at the OEM level? And whichever it is, do I have to get the 64-bit version for an AMD Athlon X2 or similar CPU?

Also, I have heard that you need 64-bit if you have a system with more than 2GB ram, is this true?

I bought microsoft office a couple of years ago, and I am going to buy another computer. Can I use the same version for my new computer or do I have to buy a new copy for every computer I buy?

I am going to buy Microsoft Office Small Business for my home business. My question is, do I HAVE to install all the programs that come with the suite? I don't need to install Office Publisher, which comes with the suite. It will just take up a lot of roomon my computer. When I install it, can I just unclick Publisher and not install that particular program, but install the others? Thanks.

I would prefer Photoshop 7 but since that is one of the newest versions I fear it may be too expensive. Is there a Photoshop [preferably v.7 or close to it] available for under $100? And no I won't do eBay.

adobe premiere or any other video editing software? What filters would we need and what steps would we have to take to get the desired effect. We want the final footage to look as though it was filmed completely at night and look very natural. If you have a link to screen shots of the filter in work or a tutorial that would be very helpful as well. Thank you in advance.

I've two identical PC, with the same softwares installed.

I've downloaded some "AVI" files from www.veoh.com and be able to watch all the files using WinAmp, Windows Media Player, DivX Player, etc... without any problems on the PC which I downloaded the file.

However, when I move the "AVI" files to another machine (same specifications with the same softwares, codecs, etc ~ exactly the same), none of the players cannot play some of the "AVI" files?

I've noticed that before copying the "AVI" files, I'm able to view the information on the "summary" tab for AVI files (properties), however, after copying the file to USB drive which is still hooked up at the USB port at the same PC (or eventhough after copying to another PC), I won't be able to see the information. When choosing the "advanced" view, it displays "Summary properties are unavailable for the selected source(s)." All these files cannot be played.

Are there some hidden info with this file? Anyone have any ideas?????

Note: I'm not trying to forge any documents. The person sent me a hand-signed copy of their letter, then later sent a better copy with some mistakes corrected. I just need to move the signature. I have a scanner, pdf995, Paint, Adobe, all of that, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I have tried a bunch of things, but they are all problematic. For example, just printing it and taping it on is obviously fake with horrible lines. Copying it from Acrobat and pasting it in in Paint makes the page a very strange size. And so on.

If there is an easy way to do this I would LOVE to hear about it. Thanks!

I have purchased a system with pre-loaded vista home basic. I had to change the hard disc. After re-loading the system prompted that I had to validate the os.
I get the following error message:
The product key is already in use.

How to overcome the problem without buying new os?

I need a good, free dvd software that is user friendly.

NOTE: I have Nero, and it's messing with my system.
When I look at a *.dat file, I don't want to see "NeroShowTime.files7.dat". Other extension types and other stuff I haven't found yet are changed.
So, please....suggest anything good but Nero.

i want to download photoshop the trial and some other things but everytime i try to download anything it ownt let me. it comes up with a lil box and then looks like it downloadin but the bar doesnt move then it turns itself off i am really gettin annoyed with this and wud really apprisiate some help

i recently bought a new laptop with vista home premium installed and I regret it bitterly. It is the most user unfriendly version of windows. Having had windows all the way up from 95 i considered myself fairly conversant with computers but this is impossible. have microsoft shot themselves in the foot this time? Hello guys! I had win XP SP2 with Media Player 9, DirectX 9.0c and AC97 supported sound card on board. whenever i was trying to open up a mp3, my computer was being freezed and i had to reset it. I changed my OS to Vista Ultimate, with Media player 11, the same hardware. by the way, i have 4 x 256 BUS 400 RAM with ATI Radeon 7000 VGA...
what do you think??? I scanned my pc with Anti-Virus Kaspersky, i updated my Vista but nothing works! my pc freezes after a few seconds whenever i open a mp3
help please :-(
