I bought microsoft office a couple of years ago, and I am going to buy another computer. Can I use the same version for my new computer or do I have to buy a new copy for every computer I buy?

you can use it on any computer.
sometimes you get a limited allowance.
see if you've got it or not, if you do, you'll probebly be able to install from that CD for 2-3 or 4 times.

If you have a version of office which is later than 2000. You will need to activate it so if you install it and it lets you activate it then it works but if you install it on more than a set number of machines the activation does not work and that is when you need to buy a new license key.

You can only try. Sometimes - not always - when Microsoft recognizes that it is the same valid user, it will allow you to install on a new PC.

If you want to make absolutely sure - here are MS' contact numbers:

Anything later than 2000version requires activation, this will be disabled if you attempt to install on a second machine.
