I am downloading a program, but everytime i go to setup it sais,

'Instalation cannot continue until the following applications are closed'

Internet explorer

I didnt have it open, and when i pressed try again, it keeps showing the same thing.How do i close it?
BTW when i download it, i dont have IE on the bottom blue dash.

I'm a novice computer user. I'm looking to switch over to windows xp 64bit. Because the processor i've got is an AMD AM2 64 X2.

Does the 64bit OS provide the same functionality as the regular? Will i get better processing power?

I will mainly use this computer as the house multimedia center to store all my music, movies, and other files that the other computers can pull from around the house via networking. Also its plugged into my HDTV for the main entertainment system.

Also, the price is that same for the two OS's.

Would this be a good option? Mainly just to utilize my 64bit Processor?

How do I link them so that so that when I change some data in one, it changes in the other? I.E. I change the numbers in some cells on file1.xls and those cells are automatically updated in file2.xls?

I activated my copy but when I switch the computer on, it asks me for activation again!!! when I click Next, it says that this copy is already activated, then I click Exit but the windows logs out of my account. When I try to log into my account again, the same thing happens!!! any help please. I tried to log in by the adimistrator account but I don't know the password

I have two different user names set up for reasons that don't matter here. But I sometimes forget which one has what on the favorites list. Isn't there a way to put them in "shared documents," in effect, the way I do with jpeg files into the "shared photos" category?

In an Excel spreadsheet is it possible (and if so, how) to copy data that are the results of a formula to another spreadsheet without bringing over all the raw data. I just get "#REF!" when trying to paste in the new spreadsheet obviously because I'm not also copying the source data... but I don't want the source data in the new spreadsheet. It this possible?

I think the programs that come with studio are really cool and i could have allot of fun with them. the other question is the final cut 2 that comes with the studio, is that the same as the express? or is it stronger with more features?

Could someone compare Windows XP and Windows Vista by listing all features that are available and probably superior in Windows Vista as compared to XP? What do I gain by purchasing a Vista? Please list by numbers. If something is not available in Vista, but available on XP, list them as well. Thank you.

My PC is infected with SCVHOST.exe and I can't get rid of it. I thought that svchost.exe (note the different spelling) is a normal thing the computer executes, and scvhost.exe is one and the same thing, or is it?

I logged on the safe mode to access Tools > Folder Options but I couldn't. I pressed control+alt+del and said the task manager was disabled as well. I got an AVG anti-virus (unupdated because that PC is used for offline purposes) and scan the pc only to produce nothing as a result. I run gpedit.msc and msconfig but I couldn't too.

What will I do?

Trying to make a spreadsheet where a column of "codes" need to stand for a dollar amount. example: TS=$5.00 and TB=$10.00. I need it where I can set up cells later, where someone can enter TS, TS, TB and it will figure out the sum, which would be $20.00 (TS+TS+TB). I know how to do the sum part, but how do I format the cells so that like TS, which is in cell A1 stands for the dollar amount in B1??? So that later when someone puts TS in a cell, it looks at it as being $5, and not TS. helllllllllllllllllllllp!!!!

My laptop just stopped working and when I re-boot it stops and says 'Can not find or file corrupt: windows2000\ system32\ ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-load file.' How do I fix this or if I have a Windows 2000 disk, how do I re-install this file?? Is my data completley lost?? Thanks for the help...

i previously installed Microsoft Works 2006 on my laptop, because of Microsoft Word 2002. My computer came with Microsoft Word 2007 that only works if you buy it. So i figured i'd buy this version because i need the word processor since i'm in school. Anyways, it worked in the beginning, but now that i'm trying to use it again, all that comes up is word 2007. it can't even open my old files. I tried to reinstall it but it said word 2002 was already on my computer. Does anyone know how i can get it working again??

I put in my CD, go through the setup option...hit "R" for repair (Second repair option) and it starts repairing. However, when it finishes the repairing process it goes through Windows setup again but it keeps saying that it can't find .dll files. It prompts with a dialog box where it indicates that there a specific file that it cannot copy from the CD. When I click browse on the, the file EXISTS! but setup is not reading it!!! If I press cancel and choose to skip the file, it prompts with another file, and another, and another and so on and so forth. It says if I skip copying Windows Xp will not work properly...so I did. I skipped the copying process and it finished the setup. However, when I came to my logon screen, my mouse and my keyboard were not working! I'm so lost. I've tried repair 3 times but to avail! It keeps bringing up the prompt..."Setup cannot copy the file xxxxxx.dll"...."make sure Windows Xp Professional Service Pack 2 is inside"...and it IS!!

Please help
