In an Excel spreadsheet is it possible (and if so, how) to copy data that are the results of a formula to another spreadsheet without bringing over all the raw data. I just get "#REF!" when trying to paste in the new spreadsheet obviously because I'm not also copying the source data... but I don't want the source data in the new spreadsheet. It this possible?

Copy the data from the first spreadsheet, select the cell where you want to place the formula, right click on the cell, select "paste special" and then check "values" in drop down list.

OR - copy the data from the first spreadsheet, select the cell wher you want to place the formula, click "edit" on the toolbar at the top of the screen, select "paste special" from the drop down list, and then check "values" in the next drop down list.

as long as the sheet is open in another "page" of the workbook (at the bottom) you can do this. Wherever you want the data to match the numbers on your invoice use the formula =sheet1!A82 (wherever you want the information from A82 on the original sheet to copy to)... you will have to do this seperately for each cell that you want to copy as excel wont let you copy multiple cells as formulas however, as a time saver, you can always click the bottom right corner of the cell and drag it down, this will copy the cells in the consecutive order as they are listed the bright side is you only have to do this once! save it as a template and use it from now on :)

I recommend using Paste Special just like the first answerer did, but instead of selecting Values select:

Values and number formats

If you select values, all it will copy are the raw values returned by the formulas. Then you will have to go back and reformat all of the cells that the numbers go into. If you do it by picking "Values and number formats" you shouldn't have to reformat the number values to look the same as they did in the original spreadsheet.

if you have a formula in sheet1 C1
goto sheet 2 g1 and enter this
=Sheet1!C1
you can also do this by going to sheet 2 G1 and hit = then goto sheet1 C1 and then hit enter
it will only show the value not the formula
