I think this is a simple problem that can be changed by changing a few settings, but I don't know how.

I've saved all the files I want to keep on a mini drive, and I want my computer to be back to the way when I first bought it. What files do i need to back up in order to do that? I only want the ones that run my system properly. Thanks!

My boss got me a new Dell Laptop with Vista and Office 2007 preinstalled. I hate it. I took the Laptop home and now want to reformat the entire HD and then install my own copy of XP I have a factory disk with XP on it. I also have my own Office XP disk to install once I get XP running. I have tried to boot from the XP install CD and it wont work. It is driving me wild. It says serious error at check your bios.

I have Windows XP sp2 on my laptop right now, and I've heard a bunch of people saying that linux is better than windows. Is this true? I use my computer to surf the web, do gaming (WoW and GTA) and chat with my friends using yahoo messenger. and if I install linux, will i be able to switch over to windows using a free parallel software.. i'm a complete noob to this linux thing, and ive heard that theres versions like urubius or something like that and unix.. which one will be the best one for me? or should i just stay with windows? and my web browser is firefox, thats the one i use all the time

There are a number of websites where you can download tv shows, music, and movies unlimitedly for roughly $2.00 a month rather than using something like iTunes where you pay $1.99 per episode? Does iTunes have better quality or what? Whats the difference.

Hi all,

Wondering if someone can help me out here.....
What I'm wanting to do is take stills from video which has been taken and then put onto the computor. The file plays in Windows Media Player but i keep having troubel with tryign to geta still out of the player. So i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of free downloadable programs which aid in taking such stills from videos....?

Previously i could take satills from the videos because they played in Quicktime.. But since upgrading my digital camera, and seeing as it uses Windows Media Player i can no longer do this... :(

Any help or reccommendations would be appreciated.

Hi:

Someone sent me a Powerpoint presentation which I thought was absolutely beautiful and I would like to remove the pictures from the presentation and use them as wallpaper for my computer.

Can anyone assist me on how to get into the presentation to remove the pix?

I detached the presentation and put it in a file of its own to see if I could remove the pix from the slide show but got nowhere.

If there's a way, I would like to know?

my 7 yr. old grandaughter was given a hardly used computer.
it is running on windows 2000 professional.
can we upgrade it to windows xp?
if so, can we download windows xp on the net or would we have to buy software and install it.
any suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.

i go to install the express one, and in the set up it says "if you want to uninstall service pack 4. then theres a option do not archive " now, i want to install service pack 4 not uninstall... or am i missing something? thanks.

I have a spreadsheet that consists of information about donations to an organization and the names of people who gave the donations. These two kinds of information came from different sources and are linked by an ID number. Each donor may have given more than one donation, but each ID number is identified with only one name.

For example:
Donor ID Donation Amount
1 $500
1 $400
2 $900

Donor ID Donor Name
1 John Doe
2 Mary Smith

I would like an output that sums all the donations that one person gave, like this:
Donor Amount
John Doe $900
Mary Smith $900

So what I want is a function that does this: "Scan all cells within range, and sum all of the cells within the range matching the criteria I specify."

SumIF does not do this because it will not add individual cells to the total, as far as I can tell; it will only sum the whole range if the criteria are satisfied.

I am helping my friend with her computer. When I click on Copy in the SmartPanel of her Epson Perfection 1660 Photo Printer, we get a runtime error that shows Program: C:\Program Files\Epson\Copy Utility\Copier.exe and says "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application support team for more information." I reinstalled and still have a problem. I contacted Epson and a week ago they said someone would get back to me. HELP!! The website didn't have a patch or download for this.

My Memorex 52MAXX 3252AJIv2 and a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 112d won't burn cds or dvds. They both read regular cds or dvds or burn ones as well. When I insert a blank disk into either of them Windows won't automatically ask me what program do I want to open the blank disk anymore. Whenever I would insert a blank dvd into my dvd drive it would change from "DVD-RW" to "CD Drive" now it just stays "CD Drive". I have tried the following already: Reinstall drivers, Check cable connections, Scan for virus, Clean Registry, Updated WIndows w/ current updates, Use System Restore to go back several days, downloaded latest drivers from the manufacture's site, Firmware has been updated, Use other third party software. If I try to burn a cd or dvd the software that I use will promt me to connect a recorder and restart application. When I uninstall drivers and reboot system Windows detects the drives but still same problem. Can't seem to find the problem. Any suggestions will help. Thanks
