I've saved all the files I want to keep on a mini drive, and I want my computer to be back to the way when I first bought it. What files do i need to back up in order to do that? I only want the ones that run my system properly. Thanks!

Go to the Acronis site and download the trial of True Image. Make a backup of all the files and apps (software) that you want to keep onto another drive. Then do a format and reinstall of XP, IF you have a XP disc. If not, use the reinstall disc that came with your computer. After you get XP reinstalled, put True Image on it and make an Image of your XP and burn it to a CD -R or DVD -R/RW. Then you will be able to go back to it anytime you want. The best thing to do, is to clone the drive to another hard drive in your computer.

The True Image trial is fully functional for 15 days, and is worth every penny if you decide to buy it. I have put the link to the download here as well.

Make sure you download to a different drive, that way you don't have to download it again.

Did your computer come with a restore disk? If not, there may be a wizard on the computer to help you burn one. Check the "Help" menu. You computer may also have a restore partition. When your computer boots, doesit say something like "Press F10 to Restore". Anyway, if you boot the restore CD or the restore partition, it will put your computer back the way it came from the factory. Of course, any software yiu have installed since then will be gone, so make sure you have your software CD's.

to backup your computer
stand behind it., lol im kidding sorry
when you have all the files you want to save on mini drives then you have it backed up
what you want to do is put it back to factory specs or reformat
you do this by putting in your windows disk that you got with the computer and restart the pc

Your never gonna get your computer back the way it when new by backing up the files. The only way you can get it back the way when new it, you have to reformat the hard drive.
