I'm deciding whether to upgrading my computer...Is windows vista better that windows xp? what are the new features of windows vista?

I'm using this program to make something to put in a frame for my brother, but I'm having trouble printing it. The background is a light tan marble, and the text is burgundy. Even though the background and text show up just fine on the screen, the text will print, but not the background; it always comes out white. Even when I go to "print preview", the background shows up white.

Any ideas or suggestions?

i have a catalog that i done it up in MS Office publisher and after several attempts i FINALLY got it set up as a PDF file, well now they are telling me it may be too big, is it ok to if i go into my doc's then select send to compressed (zipped) folder without damaging the file??? im new at this too HELP!!!!

I am currently using W2K server, I downloaded 300 songs from Limewire,not realizing tha W2K server does not have a sound device. Now I also have Linspire/Linux on the same computer wich does have sound capability. I guess my question is can I transfer the music from W2K to Linspire/Linux without screwing up my downloaded music? Any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I am kind of new to this computer stuff THANK YOU

DOes is matter if I use CD-R or do I need to use CD-RWs if I want to retrieve the files later?

The issue is as follows: every time the user starts her computer, a folder pops up on the screen (C:\Program Files\HP\) which has the common and temp folders in this screen.

She tried removing any instances of HP from startup under msconfig. It still pops-up.

How do you turn off the classic log on screen for Windows XP. I have the welcome screen turned off under user accounts and I have no password. I sent my computer in to get repaired and they turned it on when they had to reprogram the computer but now I can't get it turned off.

I hope there's someone out there who know's computers, I have tried to solve this problem but no one seems to know anything. Here goes: I keep getting an error message, sometimes on Outlook Express, and sometimes on my desktop, the error message reads: Generic Host Process For Win 32 Services encountered a problem, and needs to close. Please tell Microsoft about problem. I don't even know what Win 32 is. Could someone please explain. Thank you for any one who can help.

I am attending an online class, and whenever I click on a student's assignment that has a .pdf extension it opens it with Notebook, eventhough I chose to open it with Adobe Reader. I have to go out of my way to save it to the desktop, then right click on the assignment and click "Open with Adobe Reader 8". If anyone can help me fix this "glitch" it would be greatly appreciated...and a HUGE time saver. Thank you!

I already deleted this item from my control panel, but can't seem to get rid of this item in my system tray. I even tried right clicking the item, but that will not allow me to delete it, and it makes me wonder if it is really deleted out of my system
