Firefox is a far superior browser. It is more secure, less buggy, and is more compliant with web standards. But even better than Firefox (imho) is Opera. Opera has proven time and again to be the most standards compliant browser. Plus it has some cool features.
The biggest advantage to Firefox is the Add-Ons which can give you some amazing functionality.
The ONLY advantage to IE is that some web sites are built with proprietary Microsoft technology available only to IE. Those web designers should be prosecuted for such heinous crimes, but hey, what can you do.
Definitely go with Firefox, but check out Opera too.

I don't see any difference in them. They are both internet browsers, and both do a very good job. I find Firefox to be a little more user friendly. Also, Firefox has allot more plug-ins, and many more themes if you're into that kind of thing. But when all is said, I say use the browser that you are most comfortable with.

Well i personally use Firefox and i think its an amazing browser.
Security wise it is by default good if not better than IE,also it works faster and more efficiently in my opinion.
Also there are a good number of add-ons for Firefox which makes it eevn more safe (Eg:No Script).
But Firefox ActiveX components unlike IE,so you miss out on a few features but overall i think FF is good except for that ActiveX thingy.
Also there are quite a few nifty features which come along with it too and it all makes for a nice browsing experience.

With Firefox there are tons of addons that make it tha far superior browser. You are less likley to get spyware and adware using firefox. It is less of a load on your pc and very customizeable. IE is just a beast and a hog resource that does not function properly all the time that allows spyware and adware to come through. Most installers that are for spyware for toolbars and stuff are written to work with IE. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:1
u will be able to see all of the things that firefox can do with the proper plugin.

I was beginning to find I.E a bit tired and viruses were starting to break through too. Since I started using firefox, everything runs quicker, it's cleanup is much easier and I haven't received any spam, popups or the like

In general, Firefox has better security. There are also more add ins that can add more functionality.
I.E. however is more compatible. Many web sites are composed for IE, and look funky with Firefox. Up to you which you prefer.

I prefer firefox. It is much faster, and the one feature that has saved me many times is that if it accidentally shuts down, it will save what ever you were working on so you can go back to your same place, and not loose anything you were typing when it shut down.

I use Firefox, its reputable for its good security (firewalls, virus protection etc) and it runs faster for me, though that could just be my computer. FF was recommended to me for security and virus protection.
This takes a bit to get through, but might be of interest.

I stick to IE.
FF creates many problems. May be safer. But I switched back to IE.
