I'm hoping that there shouldnt be much detail lost in the process. And this is for a desktop wallpaper. Any ideas?
Thanks

Any program is going to cause some lost of detail.

You can use the Paint program included with Windows to stretch the picture to the desired size. As it is the wrong proportions for your screen, you are probably going to have to either crop the picture (cut off some) or paste it on a colored background (frame it) to make it fit.

If the picture you're using has a very high resolution, like 300dpi or better, than you can probably expand it to desktop size without too much blurring. However if it was saved at 75 or 100dpi, then it will probably look pretty lousy when blown up that big.

You can always use MS Paint. It's free, unless you want to buy a software that will allow you to do that and much more to it (such as Adobe Photoshop)
