The issue is as follows: every time the user starts her computer, a folder pops up on the screen (C:\Program Files\HP\) which has the common and temp folders in this screen.

She tried removing any instances of HP from startup under msconfig. It still pops-up.

Thank you for any solution ideas.

Probably being called in the registry

If you are not familiar with editing the registry, get someone who is to help you. One mistake could prevent you from being about to boot into Windows.

Start > Run > regedit

HKEY_Local_Machine
Software
Microsoft
Windows
Current Version
Run

Look on the right side for an called to the folder and delete them.

There is another possibility. It's a long shot tho.

It's possible the folder has 'hidden' properties. If you go into windows explorer and then to tools/folder options

Then look a short was diown and see if the 'show hidden files and folder box is checked or unchecked. Make the appropriate selection to 'show', and then 'ok' your way out.

Then check for the occurence of the folder once again in start-up and possibly msconfig.

Hope you find out how to get rid of this. These kinds of things are terribly annoying! Good luck.
