When I open a file in excel, it saves the numbers as a data file, instead of numerical, so when I try to add everything up, it shows up as an error. Any help?

When I bought my PC, it came with a 3 month trial of Office 2003, which I don't want, and refuse to pay for. Now whenever I click on any text file, it will open in Word 2003 with the annoying activation message trying to get me to buy a key code. I know I can just right click on a file and go to the open with option, but I don't always remember to do that and end up having to wait for the stupid Word 2003 to do its thing before I can cancel it and open the file with something else. I would really love to delete the entire Office 2003 but I heard that that will screw up your computer's ability to open any text file, regardless of the program you are using.

i have a black 2GB iPod nano, and i have over 300+ songs in there right now when i last updated it. however, my iTunes stopped working yesterday after i deleted some useless programs, the error report comes out and i'm forced to click close. what is the problem here?
p.s: i can't remember the programs i deleted from my computer.

Help me!!! I keep getting a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error. It says

buffer overrun detected!
program:c:\windows\explorer.exe
a buffer overrun had been detected which has corrupted the programs internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

And when I click okay, it'll just pop back up! What do I do1?!? Like, it just pops up right when I turn on my computer!!

I jus got me a cornputer. Its real fancy like, cause I got it from a yardsale at this real big house with an indoor privvy and everthing, and its got this here built in cupholder. The problem is when I am surfing around looking at girlie pictures, sometimes the durn cupholder goes back in the cornputer and spills my beer. I am afeard the beer is going to damage my new fancy compooter. I called up that there help number, and the feller over there and I couldn't make heads or tails of what each other was saying. He must have been in some furrin country like new york or something. Can some of yall help a poor feller out?

I have tried with the hj software but joint option is not working. I have changed the name of the files. I gave same name to all files with serial numbers in order. The joint fails. Is there any other way to join them.

Hey, I currently have Microsoft Word 2003 installed on my PC and I would like to know how one updates to 2007? Does it involve purchasing the 2007 edition which I am inclinded to believe or can I simply update my exisiting Microsoft 2003 Office to 2007 without additional cost? If so where can I go to do this as so far on the Microsoft site I have met with no success but rather only payment plans for Office 2007

I was wondering how is the sale of Windows Vista going?

I don't mean those sales being placed in new computers pre-installed but for people switchin to it.

My thought is that it is not very good as it's so expensive.

I'm sticking to my XP as long as support is around for it, or if Vista comes down in price significantly.

All I want to do is put a movie (.avi file) onto a DVD so it can play in DVD players.

I have PowerISO which converted the file to a .iso file.
I have Nero 6. I followed these steps in Nero:
1. Launch Nero.
2. Choose Recorder / Burn image
3. Browse to the location of the ISO file and select the ISO file you want to burn to cd/dvd
4. Check the option "Finalize CD (No further writing possible!)
5. Click on "Burn" now.

I did this, and all this does it put the .avi file onto the dvd so it can play on computers. This does not play in DVD players.

Surely it's not this difficult to simply put a movie onto a DVD. How do you do it?
I have all the necessary software, what are the steps you take to do this?

I'm about to buy a new Dell computer. They were going to install MS Office for about $200 but then I heard of Open Office and since it's free I'm wondering if it is pretty much just as good as the MS version?

Please understand that I am almost illiterate when it comes to computers. I currently use a 1995 version of MS Excel and MS Word just for my own personal use. I only use the bare essentials of these programs, nothing fancy! They work just fine for my purposes although I've noticed that they won't open Word documents that people email to me.

So my question is....is there any downside to me saving around $200 and going with Open Office instead of MS Office?

Finally, I searched for other questions here about Open Office and it seems like most people think it's a good thing. Except the answers all had very low ratings, as though Microsoft employees spend their days voting against Open Office instead of working to make their own products better. Anyone else notice that?

I'd like to rearrange my first column in alphabetical order. Unfortunately, there's associated information for each row in columns B, C, D, etc. When I rearrange it, all of the information doesn't match up anymore. How can I sort column A, and also rearrange the other columns so all information matches up correctly?

Alright. I will just give you an example of what im trying to do, will be easier than explaining.
I want to take a list of keywords, e.g. dog, cat, pig, bird.
I want to use the replace function and replace each one of these words with the xxx in this list.
xxx pets
xxx food
xxx shelter
xxx toys
so in the end it would look like
dog pets
dog food
dog shelter
dog toys
the same for each word.
Now I know how to do it one at a time, word by word, but I have a list of over 5000 words I want to replace in a list similar to that. It will take me forever to do all 5000 if I have to do each replace one-at-a-time.
Please help and tell me there is a way...
and the quicker the answer the better ive gotta go live with this asap (im in web advertising and design)
