You should be able to. SP2 was designed to upgrade SP1.

1. Before starting update your anti-virus program and do a complete scan. Also update and run an anti- spy-ware/malware program to insure your computer is free of viruses and malware.

2. Then do a restart on the computer and use alt-ctrl-delete to open Task Manager and stop any applications that is running.

3. Then try installing SP2.

NOTE: Your copy of Windows MUST be legitimate or SP2 will not run.

did you get back any messages saying you were running an invalid copy of xp because if you are not you cant install sp2

What are the specs of your machine? Also you must have a legit copy of xp to get the SP 2 to install.
