i got a windows xp comp from dell with some addons (video card, 1 gig+ ram and like 200 harddrive space)
is vista worth it at all?
will it improve my computer?

ill explain my story. i had nortin anti-virus it worked nicely then i did some weird thing to my comp:- i like somewhat rebooted it but it kept all of its programs but it fixed some problems but now my N A-V program always comes up and says ' next' or 'activate later' i click next put it just stays theres like its trying to move on but it doesnt. it seems frozen each time i do but when i do 'ctrl alt delete' it says it s running fine

whats going on here?

My Outlook Express verion 6 e-mail program locks up and will not respond when I load it. I can see the inbox and the e-mails but as soon as I click on one bam - it locks up

How do I fix this problem? I have tried a system restore and hardware repair. I have done virus scans and deleted cookies. I am not sure what else to do. I have sent error reports to Microsoft. I think that this missing file is causing my internet and my computer to run slow. I have an HP Pavillion computer. Like I said the file is b.exe or B.exe If you know how to fix this problem or can tell me some program that I have not tried that might help it would be greatly appreciated.

hey, i downloaded the Vista Transformation Pack 6 from pcworld.com and i went through some of the options, should i do system files, or setup files, i created a system restore point before i even downloaded it. I just don't know how to properly install it, and if it will screw up my computer, please give me some advice.

I have been getting a bugcheck.exe error in Windows XP every few days which results in my computer rebooting spontaneously. I found dumpchk.exe and downloaded it. I run the dumpchk.exe from the command prompt with the syntax: dumpchk mini031907-01.dmp and receive the message:
Could not initialize dump file - mini031907-01

Any ideas?

Is it possible to do this, and if so, is it complicated? Currently, if I have files that are larger than 700 mb, I use Nero 9 to split it into 2 VCD's, but wondered if I could just burn them onto a single DVD-R instead. I don't really understand alot about the different extensions (ie. avi, mpg etc) or some of the other computer terminology related to burning stuff, so if you could keep your answer worded fairly simply, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

As far as figuring things out on the computer I am very good at that. Of course I would mess with and older model and this one is new and is having problems(speed wise) just pulling up Explorer. I'm sure there are some kind of scans or something very simple I can do to get it back acting right. I think it is cause I have a few other users not sure what they are doing and then my system is slower after them using it. Any simple ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks

One of my computers is suddenly working REALLY slowly. It's so slow that it takes forever just to log on to and it takes at least 5 minutes just to load the start menu after clicking it. It wont open any programs (not even My Computer) because it will just say 'not responding'.

I think it has a virus or some kind of spyware but I can't open any programs to scan for any. I really want it working again because I have like 12 gigs of music on there that I can't afford to lose. What can I do to fix it? Please help!

I have Office XP and have maxed out my pst at almost 2 gigs.
The salesperson from Microsoft said that I can install on laptop and desktop, but not use at the same time. Is it true?
I was considering Office 2007 but have heard mixed reviews. Outlook 2003 sounds like it would work. Any thoughts?

I have a number of avi files that I would like to put into Itunes, then Ipod so that my son can watch them. I've been across the web, but I seem to keep missing any particular software that can convert avi to mpeg4 (putting them to dvd at this point is not a priority). I did this assignment essay, and when I printed it, it came out looking like crap, and I did it on Wordpad. So when I turned it in anyway, my teacher told me to use Microsoft Wordpad, not just Wordpad. He said it would be on my documents but I don't have it on my computer. Does anyone know where I can download Microsoft Wordpad for free so I can turn my paper back in the right way?
